Good morning Everyone,
I have 12+ year old PVC shutters that need to be painted. Any recommendations on primer and exterior paint?

Thanks,
JC

Call Sherwin Williams, they have a special paint just for vinyl siding.

Tom

Sherwin Williams recommended their Extreme Primer first and then their "Duration" paint. Both are very thick like mayonnaise.
As per Tom's recommendation, I used my handheld Graco airless sprayer and it worked like a charm. I will hang them tomorrow.
Another item off my "Honey Do List" on to the next.
Cheers.
JC

I need to paint my PVC shutters as well. How to thin SW duration if I am using Fuji Q4 HVLP gun? Any suggestions?

Don't use the Fuji with Duration. Not enough bytes on the internet for me to type out what needs to be done to it to make it work in your HVLP. Hand held airless is the better choice.

Also SW makes paint specifically for vinyl siding and shutters.

Tom

Thanks for your response, Tom. Maybe I should just roll it? Do you have any experience with using the gun to spray the shutters? What products would be suitable for that purpose?

I have a Graco hand held that I use for Duration.

[member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] Tom, if I may piggyback on this thread, quick question, please.

What sprayer would you recommend to paint my garage walls and ceiling?

Airless, you should be able to rent one. Pick your primer and paint, check the TDS, you'll find the tip and pressure recommendation in it. If the it is an adjustable sprayer, start with a low pressure, adjust until the tails just disappear.

I'm a believer in back rolling.

Thanks Tom.  We all really appreciate your knowledge and contributions to the FOG.
