Hi, I just received my new TS55, and have a few questions for TS55 owners.
In the fist photo, it shows the hex-shaped recess that is cast into the base plate, and it looks like it was 'peened' on the forward-most face of the hex recess and slightly deformed the adjacent bottom surface with a slight bump - about 0.02". When I sit the saw on my corian counter, it rocks back and forth, but on the rail it does not rock, as it falls into the 'recessed' area of the guide rail.
Does anyone else have this? is it normal? My ATF 55 sits perfectly flat wherever I place it.
In the second photo, it shows the gap between the blade housing and motor body, and when I apply slight pressure the gap closes up about 0.03" with an ever so slight rocking. It seems like this would compromise the perpendicularity of the blade during plunge. Has anyone noticed this? Is it normal? Again, my ATF 55 is rock solid in this regard.
I have not had the chance to cut with it yet, and if this is not normal, I'd rather not use it and get it full of sawdust if I'm going to exchange it.
Thanks for any help.
Pete
