Repeatable Cuts On The Off Cut Side?

PeterK,

Thank you for very accurately summarizing my methods.

The only other thing that I will add is that people who work with wood are very varied in their needs and wants.  All I want to do is provide food for thought that can be examined, consumed, and digested as each individual who reads it desires.

is it possible to use both extentions on the same side with wide material in the middle, like a table?

The left extension fence reverses, so yes.

Peter H.,

Thanks for the idea of mounting a piece next to the fence to help with dust collection.  Should capture what little dust does escape.

Cool to see you test driving the new 'use of space' concept.

Ok the UG extensions take up way too much space for me. Would be fast and easy ( and pricey ).

What about those Kapex crown stops? Are the tops of those flush with the MFT/3 top or do they allow room to attach a board to the top?

I don't have any crown stops to try, (as a matter of fact, I don't own the UG stand, extensions or Kapex, I borrowed them for a job). The crown stops must plane out with the top of the MFT when mounted as I mounted the extensions.

I think. I know what you're planning, I believe you could mount to the edge opposite the V clamp.

Yes -- the crown stops are flush with the MFT/3 top and you can attach wood to them by using aluminum or steel strips screwed to the stop and them to the wood -- there are two holes in the crown-stops that can be used for this -- you might need to countersink the top of the stop to accommodate the screw head, but it is easy to do.

If you have the CMS. Not sure what the parts cost, but the fence and protractor from either the MFT 3 or CMS will work. The MFT 3 fence is longer and could be swapped side for each for additional reach.

Did I miss the easiest and most obvious? Just reverse the rail, slide in from right to left, instead of left to right.
