As I said, box shifting with no real knowledge or backup. It will be fine if you know what you want but don't expect any serious advice or recommendations.

It's my experience that screwfix "stock" very few power tools other than their own brand and most in the catalog are next day from central warehousing or direct shipped for larger items. Product knowledge and advice is zero other than reading the catalog entry. For same day Festool I will drive to Axminster. For other Festool not carried locally next day delivery and advice as well as competitive pricing is available online. Don't see where screwfix "selling" Festool enriches the supply

Looks like Axminster are beating them on price - I only checked the TS 55.

Yeah Axminster is about £20 cheaper per tool on average from the few I've looked at. Though I have to confess I like to go to pick up purchases from a store rather than waiting in for a delivery all day. So I guess it's a good thing that this opens up that option to people across the UK who aren't in easy reach of a Festool bricks and mortar dealer. I'm lucky, Axminster is a 10 minute drive for me.

I bet the chances of finding Festool kit in stock in a Screwfix outlet will be a bit remote.

This SF thing is a curious development for existing dealers, and may well work in their favour.

If, and it is a big if, the 31 items available remain as the only 31 items available then the offering is poor, no backing pads, no abrasives, no replacement bags for the dust extractors, not even a guide rail on offer. Surely anybody buying a Festool machine rarely just buys the machine, it has always been a system, and therefore a user buying a machine from SF will go looking for Festool accessories and consumables to suit. Therefore they will either go online or more often than not, because their backing pad has just failed or the bag in their extractor has just reached the end of it's useful life, will go looking for the nearest dealer for help to get them working again. The local dealer wins a new customer that may never have come into their store.

This is just a theory though, with a glass half full approach.

So maybe us dealers should be thanking Festool and SF for this huge amount of publicity gained from placement in the SF catalogue.

We'll see.

Best regards

Warren

Festool are advertising themselves more at the moment. They where sponsoring programmes on Discovery Turbo TV channel over the weekend

They're all marked as Next Day in the catalogue so I assume they won't be stocked in store.

Yes I also noticed the are not selling vac bags, rails, abrasives and also they are also selling the centrotec pozi set, but no centrotec drills at the moment. [huh]

Surely the range will grow otherwise its pretty stupid of them!

Il still be using proper dealers as i hate screw fix and you WILL get a better service off a dealer. I only use screw fix if i am super desperate. Oh and i hope it does bust business for you warren.

What's the procedure for returning a tool within the allocated time if you're not happy with it? Surely SF will honor this and tool registration...

Sorry, Peter. To clarify, what I meant was if one orders online, picking up at the nearest store instead of delivery to your home address is often more convenient. So Screwfix with their extended opening hours could make for a convenient way for people not close to an independent dealer to order their Festool gear.

Wow one of he reasons I don't post on here very often even though I view this forum many times a day is the snobbishness !
Warrens right hoping this could be an opportunity for him maybe to gain more business Festool is brilliant more people should know about their tools.lets be honest not all Festool dealers are as knowledgable as warren to be honest a lot of them that I admittedly use based on cost havnt got that much knowledge at all.as for screw fix being just for diy ers is an ignorant view I know very many superb tradesman who use them on a regular basis as well as many Cowboys but that being said I also know a good few Cowboys who use Festool too ! I love my Festools but sometimes hate the snobby mentality some people seem to associate with the brand to the extent that when I ince took a sander in on warranty the dealer couldn't believe how scratched and used it looked !!!! I'm glad Festool are trying to reach out more to people since I've been using Festool (I'm a decorator) I worry about some of my fellow decorators long term health due to dust issues

I also have a question to all those who are bashing screwfix. . . where do you get your screws, glue, nuts, bolts, wall plugs, PZ2 bits, dust masks, fillers, SDS drill bits etc  . . cheaper and/or more conveniently?

Screwfix have got me out of the crap more times than I can remember. No matter where I work there's almost always one within a maximum of 30 minutes (open 7 days a week and until 8pm weekdays), whilst they might not have the exact product or brand I'd choose under ideal circumstances, I rarely can't find a viable alternative to allow me to complete a job. My life would become a lot harder if Screwfix weren't around!

And open at 07:00.
Got me out of the pickle more than once.
Wide range of tools / hardware / electrical stuff and whatnots.
Bought my Keter portable work bench from them at very o/k price.

Always found staff polite and helpful.  On one occasion I returned wrong saw for what I needed - no problem; they phoned around to find nearest branch stocked the one I wanted - then reserved it for me.  About 25 minutes further drive away…  depends where you live of course.
Can't fault them actually – down to expectations isn’t it?

Daft to expect, for example, that will have demo' areas + in-depth stock of accessories, abrasives etc; that's where, as Warren points out, some Festool dealers can score.
(My second Festool purchase came about at dealer's demo' day - Midi + RO150.)

Similarly, can’t expect that will match the stock held by specialist architectural hardware supplier etc.

Glad they’re around.

Richard (UK)

I use Screwfix all the time, they subscribe to The New Brit Workshop and I quite often mention their products. Just don't expect Rosey behind the counter to answer any technical questions about power tools.
