Hi
Looking for a short 36mm hose from a Festool vacuum to the kapex. Repeat 1 short hose, 2 ends. I have talked to different Festool reps and got lots of part numbers. Was told to order new hose and cut it down and sell other half or discard and install new ends. Im looking for one already made up and ready to use.
Let me know, if you know where any are for sale.
Thanks
Brian

I haven't seen that pre-made option available in the US for at least 6-7 years...maybe more. [unsure]

Your best solution would be to purchase a 5M or 7M hose, chop off what you need and then you're still left with a 36 mm hose of useable length.

Thank you for asking this!  I did the chop and add and forgot I had the leftover part until I read this thread.  I was about to buy a 36mm hose!

Now to find where I stashed it.

Hi
I haven't seen any short hose offers in 5 years or so and that's why I posted. Im semi retired now and have a gentleman's shop. Heat/ac, full bath, lots of space, and nice new tools. I always get sawdust around my kapex after a day of cutting. It takes me 30 seconds to vacuum it up. I think I'm looking at around $300 for a 36 mm hose and fittings if I order parts and cut down the hose. My dilemma is $300 dollars vs 30 second kapex cleanup while cleaning up the shop anyways. I have the money, i just can't  justify $300 dollars for a little sawdust at the kapex.
I will wait for now and keep an eye out for a shorty hose.
Thanks
Brian

Consider raising an offer in Classifieds. There surely will be some folks buying a D36 hose that can get a longer 5M or 7m one instead and drop you a piece.

Buy a normal, flexible shop vac hose, such as the orange Ridgid hose and adapt it to length. It's not that difficult to come by or make an adapter via 3D printing that will slip over the port on the Kapex. This is my personal plan as I recently semi-retired my old CT22 to be dedicated to the new Kapex 120 "Santa-me" brought and I don't intend to use the old 27mm hose long term for that connection. Like you, I cannot accept buying a long and expensive OEM hose for this particular setup. The orange hose is about $49.

Hi
Thanks for the advice. Will keep an eye out for a short hose with 36mm connection that will fit on the kapex. Meanwhile I will check out after market hoses.
Thanks
Brian

Brian, you could also look around for a 50 mm Festool hose that's being closed out because of old inventory. I purchased one from one of the distributors (maybe BIS, Hartville, McFeelys, can't remember) for something like $60...that's what I'm presently using on a MIDI I. It's super flexible despite its size and seems to do a better job than the 36 mm hose I was previously using.  [smile]

Can you justify it for a little sawdust slowly accumulating in your lungs?

Even if you don't end up with a 36mm or 50mm hose, at least use SOMETHING for collection on your Kapex, to capture the fines and protect yourself long-term, even if your years are short.

Over the years, I've managed to connect ALL my woodworking machines (including the Kapex) with shop-fabricated adapters made out of tubes, pipes, hoses, etc. to a dust collection source. Most of them came from scrap materials lying around in the shop. This is my current set-up for the Kapex:

Previously, I used a universal adapter (red arrow points to the replacement I received) but the membrane didn't last long. Now, a short section of a shop vac pipe makes a good 36mm-dia.adapter.

I'm sure that with a little imagination and experiment, one doesn't need to spend over $50 or even $30 to come up with an effective solution to hook up the Kapex to a shop vac or dust extractor.

Ooh nice. But looks like it just doesn't fit the cutout into the hose garage?
