Split Top Roubo Bench Build

@ Luke,
I have not joined in the search, and so, certainly have not joined in the contest.  This is not an excuse, but I have been so busy learning from this thread, I would not feel comfortable looking to receive monetary compensation from any such discovery to be a reward. I will, of course, enjoy the joke, even if it is all on us.

To me, this has been a truly amazing lesson from the very beginning.  AND, it has continually gotten better with each of the stages you have gone thru.  I have read other manuals that have been exceptionally well written and presented in the past, and have saved into print for references.  Christoferson, Work and Burrell immediately come into mind for their own excellent presentations.  I have saved many manuals from them.  I have gone thru this thread with as much, if not more, scrutiny as any of the most helpful manuals mentioned.  I have lived your agony and sweated along with you.  This thread I am storing along with, and in the same folder as those other informational efforts.

Good morning Tinker,
About the contest:  With so many folks dropping by each day I felt compelled to provide a little amusement.  There is one reader that knows the answer and I think he's still smiling.  (I told a couple weeks ago).  My payout will come from more smiles on Friday.

About the prize: The way I see it, I'm buying the next round of beers for my invisible friends as we banter on.

The lessons:  I now have a chronology of the build to look back on too.  Because readers took the time to post suggestions, my build has benefitted greatly.  I have received a lot of mentoring from this thread and I am truly grateful.

I finished planing the legs and I set them in place for measuring, marking, and mortising.  I was nervous to see if front face of the legs would be flush with the face of the bench top.  At 1mm proud it's great for now!

After going back and forth about implementing the shelf and deadman or leaving it open so I can park my sys-carts, I have decide to implement the shelf and deadman's per plan.  As you can see below I can park a sys-cart at either end.  I can also use part of the shelf for a systainer pull out shelf.  I will get 2 systainers deep.  TBD

Looking good.  I have been watching this project since the beginning with envy!!!  I can't wait to build a bench like yours.  So now I need to find some time.

Luke... I for one can't wait to see what the answer is!  I tried and tried but have cross eyes now... Even after your clues.

I was going to have you donate the 20 to a charity but I can't even do that now!!  What is the deadline to find out the stinking answer!

You and Tommy B must be laughing it up!

Cheers. Bryan.
