I liked this interview because it's not so much about success as, well failure and trying again...best line "We’re willing to throw something away because it’s not great, and try again when all of the pressures of commerce are at your back saying, “No, you can’t do that.”

And do they ever throw stuff away. They test new products over and over, and every test must have all new components. They have bins full of barely used stuff that is scrapped.

Anyone here who wouldn't like to have even a few minutes to rummage in those bins?  [big grin]

A buddy of mine is an engineer that works on the physical interface (eg touchpads) portion of all of their products, both testing and development.  They are quite a bit more bleeding edge than most folks realize in terms of the technologies that they play with, and although I'll never be able to get specifics out of him, it's safe to say that they do go through a LOT of iterations of products.
