Talk me into or out of an MFT

Like many others I couldnt justify the MFT either. Im not a mobile worker, I work in my garage, so no advantage there. I have played with the MFT/3 several times in my local Woodcraft store and each time I walk away thinking Festool is crazy for charging so much for a flimsy, folding table "workbench". The demo model in that store has a table top that is already sagging. I love the IDEA of the MFT/3 and how its used, but the actualy product just isnt worth the money IMO. Maybe for half the price and with the stabilizers included Id consider but until then, I'm passing.

I used to think the same thing until I found a used on on CL and bought it. I think it was one of the best decisions I have made from a tool purchase standpoint and I liked it so much I bought another one. I have not had the sagging issues and I have never had issues squaring my units or keeping them that way in use. There is a process to set it up correctly and I follow the same procedure and it has worked. I had Steve Bace at Festool Las Vegas and Allen walk me through the process. I added the stabilizers to my two tables, but more often than not I do not even install them and it has been plenty stable without. Everyone needs to decide for themselves on whether it is worth it or not or offers value for the price, but I have been thinking about buying a third unit.
