My name is Scott, in my early 60s I'm kind of following my dad's love of woodworking.  I'm a novice and I'm wowed by some of the beautiful pieces I've seen here.  I always dabbled a little in this but, recently retired, I've become more active. I do have to say the thing I hated most was sanding.  That is until my CT midi 1 arrived today.  After hooking it up to my ETS 125 sander I was giddy.  Virtually no cleanup. It's making my hatred of sanding disappear.  Anyway, I look forward to learning a ton here. Thanks for having me.

Scott,
Welcome to FOG.  Enjoy retirement and ramping up your time making sawdust (that mostly ends up in your CT).

Thank you!  Made a bunch today already!

What do you want to build?

The big list will start with building out my workshop.  Got my router station just about done, next will be the miter saw station, a workbench and a larger area for my table saw.

After that I have a headboard for a queen size bed to tackle and then whatever projects my two boys can come up with for their houses.  Of course the wife's ideas will come first.

Welcome, Scott! First, let me say that you sound like a very smart man.

Second, I also was blown away by the MIDI as my first Festool vac (and first Festool purchase of any kind), and, like you, prioritized the Kapex right after.

It all… escalated rather quickly from there 😂

From my list, the only item I’d say you might want to prioritize is the Vac Sys SE2, which is part of a vacuum clamping system that was discontinued at the end of last year and that won’t be available for much longer. Since you are planning to make furniture, I think you may really appreciate it. If you aren’t familiar with it (I wasn’t until a few months ago), look up a few demo videos on YouTube and see if it strikes your fancy. You can check out the “Vac Sys Discontinued” thread and read the most recent posts for purchase options.

Welcome again to the FOG! I lurked here for years before joining and have found it even more helpful than I could have imagined.
