The Hammer's Home At Last

Picktool,
You mentioned installing air clamps- is there any brand model you've used and recommend?

Check out AirTight Clamps. Mac Campsure is the owner. Best clamps on the market, albeit somewhat expensive.

To the previous post regarding power switch placement, yes, it's clearly for cost savings. Having the power switch added to the end of my Felder sliding table was a $700 option. And I thought Festool was expensive!

I had those same two extra parts in the mobility kit for the A3-31.  The rep said they were used for an older model and not needed.

Well... J Slovic I picked up a pair of 1-1/2"dia x 4"stroke single action cylinders from AutomationDirect.comhttps://www.automationdirect.com/ad...matic_Air_Cylinders/Round_Body_Air_Cylinders_(A-Series)/Single-Acting_-z-_Spring_Return#Stroke_s=(+%224+in.%22)&start=0&Mounting_ms=%22Front+Nose%22&Bore_Size_s=%221-1/2+in.%22
All the parts are in the Pneumatic Section.

Along with a batch of fittings, tubing and extra stuff.
I cobbled up a 1-1/2" x 6"h x 1/8"wall Alum tube like you see
in this pic: (This was from LumberJocks, using for reference)

Make sure to put some UHMW under them so they dont make your table
blackened like mine did.

Wasnt it Brian Lamb who came out with "The Big Squeeze" clamps?
David Best has a small writeup on them too.

Also got the push/pull valves, air reg. ... gah alot to list.
I have a schematic that I put together that I can upload
tomoro. Again, this is for low budget, not for industrial
last forever use.

Anyways, I think I managed about $100 +/- per clamp. The plastic
fittings are kinda cheezie but they work.

For now, these are get bys and no way comparable to Macs Clamps.
Those are the ultimate. Some day.... some day.

I'd like to find that control lever valve thats on top of his cylinders.
Must be custom or he himself made it.

Saving a buck or two for now.

Thanks for the feedback on those 'mysterious' extra parts.

I was shorted a few small washers, but you'd think that they'd have all this parts business ironed out by now.  If I had anything to do about it the parts bags would each be numbered with a list (in English, thank you!) of their contents.  But, what do I know? [big grin]

Take care!

I need some help.

If someone could check to see if the front and back edges of their cast iron table are perpendicular to the top surface I would be very  grateful.

Mine are not and this is preventing me from getting the heavy miter bar to work correctly.  The edges of my cast iron table are less than 90-degrees. My extension tables do have perpendicular edges. So, if you think about this for a minute this is going to cause problems when you try to bolt the round miter bar to the face of the machine because one surface is perpendicular and the other is not.  In my case, the miter fence closest to the front of the machine (where we stand to operate the machine) is rubbing on both the entension table and the cast iron table and I think this is because the cast iron table front edge is not perpendicular to the top surface.

Now I could be completely wrong in all of this, but if I knew what other cast-iron table edges were that would be a big help.  The attached image shows the front edge of my cast iron table.

Thanks.
