I have been in the Makita LXT system since it came out in '05. At that time, they had very few tools, especially as compared to today. I had the kit which included a 1/2" hammer drill, impact driver, circular saw and of course the light. It came with a voucher to get a recip saw for free. They were not available was not available at the time of introduction of the kit. It took a few years before the jigsaw became available. I got one and it was the biggest disappointment of the entire lot. It worked "ok", but was way to heavy/bulky. I added a couple of extra batteries along the way, but the originals lasted well over 12 years before starting to lose their charge too quickly.
When they were destroyed in a fire a couple of years ago, these were some of the first things I replaced. I had a CXS back before the fire too. It has replaced about a week later as part of a huge Festool purchase. The CXS is so good that I was/am still willing to deal with 2 battery platforms.
The other good thing about the Makita system is the compact router. They fit into all of the bases/accessories of the corded one as a bonus. I just hope they have improved the jigsaw since the original model in '08.
As it is, I haven't gotten into the Festool 18v batteries.
