In reorganizing my shop I plan to use a spare MFT 1080 top as an outfeed table for my table saw. I can also use it as an extra work surface and maybe even put a trim router in the top.  But the 72" track tubes are just a bit long for the space I have.  I don't have a band saw to cut these and I'm reluctant to use my Kapex blade, so how easy is it to cut these with a good hack saw?  Or ,maybe I should just find a machine shop that can cut them down.

Aluminum cuts insanely easily on a miter saw even with just a wood blade. Just make sure you clamp the tracktube down so it can't move and don't force the cut. Light pressure will have the blade through in seconds. You should really consider it as it is such a huge time saver. With that said i it is doable with a hacksaw or a sawzall.

Look like tracktubes is about to release new extrusions as well as new tracktop.  Saw them post on IG and youtube.  April/May timeline

If you contact them through their website contact form .. TRACKTUBES.com ... they might cut them down for you and send you the 4 pieces.  It's worth checking?

Hey John,

Fred here with TRACKTUBES.  First things first, thank you for your order that came through a few minutes ago.  I sincerely appreciate folks who support my small business.  Someone alerted me to your post here.  I can cut the tubes for you before I ship them.  My UPS pickup is around 3:00 EST so if you can send me an email with the cut lengths you want in the next few minutes I can get them on the way now.  If not then they will go out Monday.  Let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks to everyone and especially Fred for his willingness to accommodate my particular needs.  This is the kind of customer service that is less common these days and one of the values of working with folks who are also here on FOG. Well done Fred and thanks again!

Question; With the new Quadtrack, if the top was flush to the Tracktube, couldn't the side slot be used for the Dashboard Guiderail bracket?

Yes. You'd need a second set of tubes if mounting to a typical sawhorse due to the spacing. If you aren't using a Stanley/Dewalt style sawhorse you can mount one pair of tubes w/ quad track flush and use the guide rail bracket.
