I have a new TS 55 REQ. I also have the Fein Turbo II with the Bosch hose that fits perfectly in the 55. It seems to get really good suction and I have it turned up all of the way. When cutting, the sawdust seems to go everywhere but in the vac.  It seems so simple from a dust collection standpoint but anybody have any suggestions as to why I am getting so much dust outside of the cut. I do have the 0 clearance green piece in.

Prefinished maple ply. 19mm. Rip the edge straight and then essentially cut the sheet in half the long way using the 118" rail.

I have use the same setup, if you do not have the bottom of the cut enclosed you will get dust.  The dust collection is most efficient when there is an enclosed cut.

Yeah, on edge cuts the dust can /will escape to the right of the blade.  So when you are ripping the edge straight try to leave an 1/8" or so if you have it to spare.  Also the DC is better when cutting on a solid surface. And a little always blows out the front at the end of the cut.

How is the DC when cutting the sheet in half?

Use the anti kickback device that came with the saw to se the rail. It moves it in just far enough to trap the blade vastly improving dust collection when cleaning u the sheet. I know the TS can be pretty close to dust free.

I will take some pictures the next time I make some cuts but even in the center of the sheet I have a lot of dust that escapes.  Enough where just after cutting 2 sheets I ended up having to sweep.  Have to examine it a little closer to make sure everything is setup right but there really isn't much to it.

Seems like something isn't right. Even under the worst circumstances, I still find the 55s dust collection impressive. Make sure the dust port doesn't have something blocking it or the hose isn't getting kinked, during the cut. Cutting on a sheet of foam board will help some. Putting a piece of tape over the arbor access hole will help, also. How many amps is your vacuum? I think you would want it to be at least 10 amps.

If your getting enough to sweep from center cuts, then I have to agree with wormdrive....... something isn't right. Definitely check for a blockage in the saw. You might need to remove the cover to really see.

Also if you haven't, check blades are clean and sharp. Also the green chip guard is down on the sheet, they can move without you trying.  [smile]
