Hi. The windows in my house are wearing out. I'd like to replace them, but they are really expensive. The contractor says that the high cost has to do with my siding being Hardie, and it being installed up to the edge of the window.
They replaced one window, and I watched a kid use a multimaster to cut the siding for brick mold to go around the window. It took him a long time. This is supposedly why the installation is so expensive...labor for this part of the task.
I was wondering if Festool has heard of anyone mounting a TS rail the wall and using a saw to cut out this brick mold. I bet I could do it in 1/4 the time the kid could with the MM. Do you know of anyone doing this?
Is there a way to attach the rail vertically (and horizontally) without drilling holes in the siding that isn't going to be cut out? (Make a jig that fits in the window with the sashes removed?)
If I can figure out a way to do it quickly, I may negotiate to have those windows installed after all, with me doing the first part of the labor...
