Hello.
New to the forum and looking for a bit of information. purchased a new ts 55 last week from nuts and bolts and when it arrived the guide rail was missing and a systanier was damaged. Give them there due they sent out replacements straight away and all was good until today. I fired up the saw as soon as it arrived and It worked fine all was well back in the van it went, today I took it out for it's first cut, plugged it in and nothing. It wouldn't fire up seems like the lead is dodgy as I gave it a wiggle and it almost started a couple of times then fiddled about with it a bit more and it started up. this a common problem or am I unlucky? Thank you

Hi! Yea I did play about with it for a good hour it seems pretty loose even when twisted all the way? Am I being stupid? Long day and all that? It's not my first festool and never had problems before just doesn't seem 100% need it for work this week and could become a complete in-convince if I can't get her going

Could you try a different plug it cord if not I think you got a dud which is a bummer but nuts and bolts will get it sorted for you

Everything else festool I own is cordless. Am I best in your opinion sending it to festool or contacting nuts and bolts? I've registers for the service

How old is it if it's still with the 15 days I would send it back give nuts and bolts a call first they are very good with that sort of stuff

Yea it's only a week old Ive emailed as I'm not home till 7 and no signal at work right now push comes to shove I'll drive till I get signal on lunch tomorrw and call them.  Thanks for the help

Another thing that can cause that is the "Fast-fix" handle not being fully seated.  Discovered that last time I changed my blade. [embarassed]

Plug-its on new tools can be quite stiff to turn; are you sure you twisted it all the way? (you'd feel a little click).

Hi yea I thought it could be some kind of safety feature so I went round all the green bits making sure they were correct and I'm confident I had it plugged in correct. I'm going to double check everything in the morning before any further action is taken. Thanks for all the replies

No problem and a big  [welcome] to you I only seen you are in Inverness the festool rep eddie is up there at the Black Isle show

Thanks man. Thought It would be the best place to come to for opinions! Won't be at the Black Isle show unless there's some deals to be had....

You might try moving the saw to 45 degrees before trying to seat the cord. I can't hardly get my hand in otherwise.

As Frank-Jan said the new Plug-It cords are a tight connection and hard to turn.  You need a full quarter turn for the correct connection.  It might seem like you're going to break the cord, keep twisting until it goes a quarter turn.  And be sure to bevel the saw so you can get a good hold of the cord as Tom mentioned.  The good news it the cord will loosen up and get easier to connect after a few times on and off.
