TSO MTR-18 Precision System Triangle Set Usage

It's 50F here in Chicago so time to get my wife's car out of my shop and mess around a bit. I recently bought the subject system  and started getting familiar with it. I have seen on the videos the triangle being set up in a location such that the workpiece is registered off the triangle and the track is located to the table with a set of bench dogs.

I could swear I saw a pic or video of someone that put the longer pins in the triangle and fixed it to the rail with a set of rail clips. Anyone else remember this? What are the advantages of this?

Any experienced user hints/tricks on how to take full advantage of this system appreciated.
