Costs 5 bucks so shouldnt be an issue.

Please avoid the insinuations. They do not add anything to the topic and are false to boot.imdking said:They want you to buy the new saw! Instead of spending 5 bucks, and leaving them with all that new saw stock in warehouses.

In the Festool Live presentation last week the question about modifying the saw to go towards the thinner blade was mentioned. It is not just one part and it is not an easy modification.

The guys in repair told me it's too many moving parts to replace the splinter guard on the older saw. If they wanna take the 1.8 and put it on. It's not just taking that splinterguard and replacing it. You have to replace part of the housing and gearbox. And Brad told me that the other day. It's not worth it because it's kinda expensive to get all those parts. It's not just one part, it's FIVE. And like of three of them are like massive and super difficult to switch out.

Doesnt make sense to me
