using track saw on bench top

Yeah, I bought a Festool Rail Kit that included those type of rails and the stickies. It seemed like a cheaper way to get two rails and the connectors plus some extras, though I don’t think much of the clamps and not sure I’ll ever need to use the rails in Spiderman mode.

In response to the original question I use those interlocking foam mats that are sold in motor tool shops.  They're roughly
600mm (2ft) square and about 10mm (3/8") thick.  So long as you're careful with depth setting they're fine and they dismantle for storage/transport when required.  I take them to jobs with me as well if I need to cut on the floor.

Same here, much more portable than many other options.

My goodies arrived. :O)

All my tracks arrived with all those little holes in them.  This example has longer slots stamped in it.  I know the line of holes is for the router drilling spacing.  What are the slots for?
The center slot fits over the handle of a Systainer too, so you can carry the saw and rail with one hand.
