Walnut Stool

I finished the stool for my daughter.  Walnut with maple wedges. 

It involved making square wood into round wood and drilling angled holes.    First time I have considered getting a wood lathe, but managed to make the round tenons on my router table with a jig.   

I may make a few more in different sizes and wood species.    As you can see in the last picture, one of our cats approves.

I'd be curious what the router table jig looks like. Did you just use a roundover bit 4x?

Here is a picture.  I used a 3/4" straight bit to make the tenons.   

I did use a round over bit to round the edges of the legs and the top.  The legs are not fully round, just the tenons.  There was a lot of trial and error to learn how to do it and get the bit height set correctly.    I used a test leg, but the legs were supposed to be longer, but my first attempt didn't work out too well

Nice job on the stool and I like your MacGyver solution to tenons(well, he would have used a pocket knife and duct tape, but...).
I like the wedge detail too.

In addition to the lathe there are actually round tenon makers you can get.  Kinda looks like a hole saw with teeth on the inside.  I haven't used one but researched and they look pretty handy.

And if you decide you want a lathe(because they are fun!) check out the Jet 1221VS.  Excellent starter/intermediate.  There's also a smaller Nova that's supposed to be really nice - I think it's shorter on the length of spindles you can do.
