What do people use the Sortainer for?

I've been sort of eying the Rack-Systainer - but it's not really cheap.......

It's got 4 detachable boxes, two with 15, two with 17 little boxes. I've only seen it from fotographs yet, but the lids and the boxes ( I assume they're loose boxes ) seem semi-transparant.

That looks like a nice ( though kinda pricey ) substitute for the Stanley assortiment boxes I've been using.

The Rack Systainers are heavy loaded up with stuff, really heavy.

As much as I like just about everything in Green  [embarassed], for some things, they just can't compete.  I have 6 of those Stanley boxes, grand total, about $90.00 plus tax from the Borg.

They are inexpensive enough that one can be dedicated to a single purpose.  In my case:

1 - Kreg screws
1 - Wood screws
1 - Metal screws
2 - Electrical installation stuff (wire caps, ground crimp, screws, etc.)
1 - Hanging stuff (picture, mirror, glass hanging stuff)

This is not to say I have no need for Sortainers.  On the contrary, I have one and plan on another.  I use Sortainers more for organizing rather than storage, if you understand my meaning of the difference.

These are all great suggestions. "Organizing" vs. "Storage" is a good guideline. I'm more of a scatterbrain and today I couldn't find my c12 till I found it sitting out in the open on a stonewall. I might just give one a try but tagging it along with my c12 would be a good "team" as I'd always have a set of fasteners and bits to work with. I'm still in gypsy mode right now as we just moved into a house that we are fixing and stuff tends to wander all over the site. Gypsum buckets have their place as a quick means of just dumping stuff and calling it miller time

Mark, I've found the old 5 gal. bucket to be one of the best was to store and transport things. I keep fasteners in the parachute bags, I've got a couple of 6 gal. buckets full. Hammers, prybars and other heavier tools, perfect. I keep my hand tools in a bucket boss, I love them. I never throw away used buckets.

I've almost always kept a 4 drawer under my C12 cases. Because the C12 is in a sys 1, there's no room for bits, screws, kreg jigs, stuff like that. The 4 drawer handles all of that stuff.

I have the T15 now, it's better at holding accessories, to a point.

Last spring, I did a built-in installation. I threw the C12 insert into a sys 2, and kept the 4 drawer. between the added space in the drill case, and the 4 drawer, I managed to bring all my layout tools, tape measure, scribing tools, screws, bits, tool pouch, etc. With the case for the jigsaw latched into that stack, the whole is just about the height of the CT Mini, I think. I might have latched in the sys 1 with the vac tools, too. But at that point, I had good enough improvised sawhorses that I didn't need to lug anything up the winding staircase. The client saw the neatly organized stacks, and the nicely organized work space, and she gave me a lot of compliments, just for that.

Since then I've been bugging my Bosch vendor about getting his rep to bring Bosch tools over in systainers, so I don't have to carry them in Festool systainers. So far, no luck.
