What does the date on the label signify?

Hi all,
Just bought a new TS75 saw and noticed the year on the label was 2007. Does this mean that it was manufactured in 2007? If so, is this unusual that it should sit around that long before being sold? I also have a 2200/ct26 combo and both labels state 2009.

Yes,

That is correct, the date when it was manufactured.

Re the TS75 I don't believe that it has changed in spec since I got into Festool in 2008, so probably nothing to worry about.  Others will be able to confirm as to whether this holds true for 2007 time at well.

you are correct with your assumption.

the year of manufacture is 2007.

i would consider it unusual if i were buying from a large festool dealer which has a large turnover of festool products.

if it is a small dealer, then they are probably not selling as many units.

and also take into consideration that for every 10 ts-55 saws that the dealer sells, they probably only sell 1 ts-75.
this may be the reason why the the saw you bought has been sitting for a while.

either way you look at it, you still have your 3 year warranty if any problems arise, which i imagine you will never have to use, based on my own experience with festools.

Thanks guys for your replies. Ultimately, I decided to return the saw to the dealer and get a 2010 model primarily for future resale reasons . Another interesting 'flash from the past'  are my clamping elements which are also brand new straight out of the box but bear the 'Festo' brand. A collectors item perhaps?

The plastic mold has never been changed from "Festo" for the clamping elements. So, that doesn't mean that they're dated or old. They all say that.
