What Festool Did You buy Today?

I traded in my 7yr old TS55 for a TSC55 KEB. I realized now owning a bandsaw and full size table saw I don't need the other blades or capabilities of the corded model (riving knife, ripping blade to name two). I just want something for the garage that breaks down plywood. While I have a CT I could plug into I just get sick of dealing with the cord. The TSC finally made sense to me with how little runtime it will have and the thinner kerf blade.

I stopped at local Rockler just to look around.  They had a Kapex KSC60 Basic for $700.  It was a brand new display unit that they wanted to get rid of.  Apparently Rockler wants to reduce their inventory in their smaller stores.  I have thinking about getting one so I pulled the trigger.
The first sales person thought the the price included the UG Underframe.  I thought that was too good to be true.  Of course the price was for the saw only.  It came with everything except the dust collection bag.  No problem for since I have a Midi for dust collection.  The saw works perfectly and it looks brand new.  The blade did not show any sign that the saw was used.
I could have got the UG Underframe for 30% off, but I did not think I could get that cost by my accountant wife.
The KCS60 will replace a Hitachi C12RSH 12 inch saw.  The Hitachi has served me well.  It is more then I need and it is one heavy beast to move around.

On Wednesday, I pulled the trigger and picked up the last DF500 Domino Set at my local dealer. Added the Cross Stops, for good measure. Quite happy.

Sold my excess quick connect ductwork today and put the Benjamins toward an order for the 125mm sander with the edge guide and some abrasive media. I don't have a lot of need for the smaller sander normally as the 150mm has been my "standard" since the mid-2000s, but the edge guide is absolutely something that can get some action in projects. This is a similar purchase to  when I got the RO-90 not all that long ago as it's filling a need that's been growing.

The sale of the G700 dust processor that was bought specifically for my temporary gara-shop while my building was going up has resulted in an order for the holiday Kapex 120 combo. It was time to retire/move-on the 22 year old 12" Delta CMS which I haven't really used much in the shop with the slider in play. The Kapex will likely increase usage. I'm looking forward to this tool arriving in a couple of weeks or so. (was still in pre-order status)

Picked up the limited edition DF 500 with Accessories & DOMINO Tenon Kit today. Took a test drive and it's so easy to use! Now looking for projects to make the most of it. One thing that disappointed me though was the exclusion of the cross-stop in favour of the hand rail fence (which I can't see myself using anytime soon).

I bought a used LS 130 with a manufacture date of 2005. The machine looks like it is new, but the sanding pads are showing their age. I ordered a complete set of pads from a German vendor.

Ouf, yeah, I opened mine a while ago only to find the pad turned crumbly yellow like that (it was fine prior use, which was likely six months prior). I ordered a new pad and then tried using the bad one to see if I could make progress. It was funny to watch the sander move, and the pad just sat there and completely disintegrated.

Thanks for posting the photo.  [smile]  It appears that while light may be an accelerant to sanding pad deterioration, at some point in time, old age trumps everything else.

Humidity and sun definitely hasten the pads demise, but I had some sealed in a back inside a cupboard in a moderately cool section of the shed, and they had all turned nasty.

Funnily enough I had some other brands sanders way older than my Festo's/Festool's, and never had that issue with any of them

I think 19 years is a lot to expect for a consumable item.  The seller stated some of the pads had deteriorated, but since the replacements are still available, I took a chance on buying it.  If I get another 19 years out of the tool, I will be happy.

I never purchased the LS130 sander due to the sporadic nature of my anticipated usage and my expectations that the pads would have a high likelihood of growing old and disintegrate prior to my next usage - which could be years apart in my case.  I usually stock up on consumables when I purchase tools so that I am not at the mercy of not having something when and if I need it.

I just bought a used TS 55 FEQ-F-PLUS-FS from a guy in my area for $550. Said he used it once to rip a sheet of plywood and then decided he wanted to get the TSC. The saw is perfectly clean with no sawdust, the track was uncut and unused. Even the plug it cable was still in its factory-wrapped zip ties. He bought it in the middle of October and I've been in communication with him for about two weeks - it didn't occur to me until the ride home that he was well within the 30 day period and could have returned the saw and gotten the TSC. A great find!

This was the guy in Silver Spring? I had seen that up for a bit. He said price was firm but did drop it from $600 to $550. Sounds like you scored a great deal - I was highly considering picking it up from him, but it's a bit of a trek from where I am. Congrats!
