PaulMarcel said:Ouf, yeah, I opened mine a while ago only to find the pad turned crumbly yellow like that (it was fine prior use, which was likely six months prior). I ordered a new pad and then tried using the bad one to see if I could make progress. It was funny to watch the sander move, and the pad just sat there and completely disintegrated.

luvmytoolz said:Humidity and sun definitely hasten the pads demise, but I had some sealed in a back inside a cupboard in a moderately cool section of the shed, and they had all turned nasty.
Funnily enough I had some other brands sanders way older than my Festo's/Festool's, and never had that issue with any of them

The saw is perfectly clean with no sawdust, the track was uncut and unused. Even the plug it cable was still in its factory-wrapped zip ties. He bought it in the middle of October and I've been in communication with him for about two weeks - it didn't occur to me until the ride home that he was well within the 30 day period and could have returned the saw and gotten the TSC. A great find!
