What is the simplest project that you ever undertaken and completed for pay?

Mine is the flagpole support that I built two weeks ago for my granddaughter's Sparks group.  For those who do not know, Sparks comprise the youngest group within the Girl Guide organization.  Sparks are aged 4 to 6.

The requirement I was given was a stand that could hold a small aluminium flag pole, that could easily be moved but could still support the pole, that was no larger than 50 cm cubed, and that looked rustic.

A couple of days after my daughter asked me to make this, I was chopping firewood and it occurred to me that my chopping block would do the job.  So, I took a slice of the spruce log, sanded it top and bottom:

Drilled a hole two thirds of the depth of the slice:

Applied three coats of Spar Urethane top and bottom, and the job was done:

There you have it a project that perfectly meets the requirements, costs almost nothing for material (the tree was free from my neighbours) and has no joinery.

My pay for this work was a dozen and a half ginger cookies baked my granddaughters Brooke (6) and Jamie (4).

Simple and it works.  Can't ask for much more.

However... I would have held out for two dozen cookies.  Or two cookies and a dozen granddaughter hugs.

My daughter and son are Sparks at AWANA.

My simplest project was to replace one 2x6, 6 foot long railing top cap on an outside deck. No routing just a flat Cedar 2 x 6 screwed in. 15 minutes 100.00.

Frank, I envy you and your payout schedule.  Certainly the fruits of a lifetime of love and labor.
Best to you and your family.
