A random assortment of USA Whitney form taps from 3/4" down to 6-32, including M14, M8 & M6, all for $19. It's like the old days of eBay.

The nice thing is that most appear to be bottoming or plug taps which are difficult to find unless you go to a tooling house like MSC or Travers.

Heh, heh, heh...19 more items for the estate sale.  [poke]  [smile]

Discussing my, umn... lifetime supply of some stuff yesterday with the boss. Mentioned that she's faced with disposing of stuff I acquired on eBay 20 years ago "from the estate of a fly tyer" and suggested she could resell it on eBay similarly. She replied it would be listed as "from the estate of a knucklehead who acquired it from the estate of a fly tyer".  Hard to argue with that. We are in a competition not to be the last surviving spouse.

Yea I think many of these will see some actual use, and overall the lot cost me about what a single tap would at retail. They are purported to be new old stock.

I'm slowly swapping out bits and drivers with Centrotec compatible versions.

Alas, if Snappy made metric Vix bits, I would have probably gotten them a long time ago.  Instead, I was stuck trolling eBay waiting to find a retailer getting rid of a package-damaged Festool 5mm (because I'm too cheap to spend what Festool wants for it).

Yeah, I can see maybe $40-$50 for the 5mm Festool, but $97?

I recently picked up some 5mm system screws from Blum so I have a feeling there there will be a new self-centering bit in my future. Snappy makes a a 5mm self-centering bit but it's not available in a Centrotec version. I sent an email checking to see if maybe one is coming soon.

Is there somebody in the USA that's willing to buy and send me one of those Snappy 5/64" self centering bits for Centrotec?
As an European it's not possible for me to buy one of those from Snappy or Amazon.

I could probably ship one to you but international shipping seems expensive. Is there a better way?

The USPS calculator only accepts weight in pounds (I entered 1 pound).

I checked the price for a small box and a small envelope.

Cannot it be shipped in a regular bubble envelope?

I'll put my bit in an envelope, head over to the post office, let them weigh it, and get a price in person, but that might not happen until next week.

[eek]

That's all it took, eh?

[doh]

You get exactly as many things as you don't ask for.  Thanks for doing that!

Well that's cool. I'm going to look into the others first, but I would buy a 5mm too.
I do have a 5mm spring-loaded bit, but it's not self-centering. It is intended to be used with a shelf pin jig. I have made or modified other jigs to work with it, but a true tapered centering bit would be great.
