I am new to the Festool Products and about to start purchasing my first tools. Where do guys recommend I buy all of

my products? From a website like festoolproducts.com which offers Free Shipping and No Sales Tax or from a

local distributor?

Thanks for any input

First, welcome to the FOG! [welcome]

There is an advantage to buying local, that is being able to get your hands on the tools before you buy.  These tools are not an inexpensive purchase so it's better to get the right tool on the first try if possible.

I know so people like to avoid the sales tax and that's fine for some.  Just remember in almost every state you are required to pay the tax even if it's an internet sale.

I do like a couple of internet dealers that participate here.
Good luck.

Welcome to the FOG.

I dont have a local supplier, well I do in Reno, but i dont really think they are all that up on Festool, their stock levels vary widely. I do my research here and online to decide what I want, then I buy online.

I have used Tool Nut (Festoolproducts.com), as well as Bob Marino and In Touch Tools. If you are not in a hurry, and want to forgo the sales tax, buy from an out of (your) state dealer online. I have never had any issues with these dealers, as others will tell you, Bob Marinos crew packs shipments to survive being run over by a tank!

I have also purchased from Hartville via Amazon, Amazon directly too. Personally I would not buy from CPO Outlets or Factory Authorized Outlet, just my opinion based on their business practices and reviews.

All of the Festool is the same price in N America, so its not like you can shop by price. All of the dealers I mentioned at the top have a great staff and are very knowledgeable about the product should you have any questions or problems.

Good luck and have fun! And, beat the price increase-- buy now, before April 1.

Oh, it f you are buying a tool and a table or vac, make sure that you take advantage of the 10% off the table or vac when you buy. Most dealers offer that option on their site. Also, if you buy a TS55 REQ track saw, see if the dealer will swap out the normal rail for a "holey" rail, that may be of use to you later if you work with the LR32 drilling system.

Like who? Ha!  [tongue]

Welcome to the forum, Patrick. We'd be glad to help you out and be your dealer of choice. Feel free to reach out to me or any of our knowledgeable Festool guys at the store. shane@toolnut.com

We have fast, free shipping on all things Festool. Order ships same day if we get the order by around 2-3pm Eastern.

It's all personal preference. If you like brick and mortar, go that way. If you're like me and cant be bothered driving all over the state only to find out they are out of stock or their festool guy took that day off, there a quite a few good dealer on this site that know the tools well. Combined with Festool's 30 day return window the only thing you lose is return shipping.

Bob Marino and Tool Nut (aka festoolproducts.com) are excellent choices.

I try to purchase locally but the local Woodcraft store doesn't always keep a lot of product in stock. They didn't even have a replacement battery available for my CXS.  [eek]

So, if it needs to be the internet, then it's always Bob Marino or Tool Nut. I've had great service from both.

Welcome to FOG. Like others I do not have a dealer nearby. I have purchased the majority of my Festools from Bob Marino. I have talked to him before making a purchase, just call and he either answers or gets back to you quickly. It does take a week for the tools to get from there to here, but they are very well packed. I usually fill up my recycle bin. I have also bought from Tool Nut and Tool Home. Both gave superb service. As Shane said call him or talk to the knowledge staff, get your prepurchase questions answered. When you feel comfortable, buy. One other thing, you might want to dedicate one credit card to your Festool purchases. It would be preferable if that card has a very high credit limit. I started with a sander and a CT 36, others followed. Good luck with your decision and enjoy your new Festools.

If you have a local distributor, at least go visit him.  Building a relationship with the local guy can be a huge advantage.  And there are some great local dealers out there.

On the other hand, you can't go wrong with Bob Marino or Tool Nut.  Bob especially has really gone out of his way to help me several times.  Both know the products well and will take time to answer your questions thoroughly.  I have confidence that when I deal with these guys, if anything goes wrong, they will do what it takes to make it right.

It depends, I try to support my local dealers as much as possible. If we don't support them they will disappear. My brick and mortar are awesome when I want to get my hands on a tool to fondle and touch, plus when I need help with a tool nothing is better then to walk into my brick and mortar and talk to them.

A far as on line dealers go, I go with the closest. I used to go to Tom B (RIP). Festool dealers for the most part offer free shipping

To The OP, welcome to the FOG and the world of Festool. And a very big "thank you" for my customers for their very kind words of support.
