Where's my square?

A follow up to my post about the 'mottled' appearance of my square

I had emailed WoodPecker about the problem and this was their reply:  "We unfortunately found this on many of our OTT Precision Squares after a lot had already been shipped out. We found it was caused by a reaction with the material once it was anodized it's red color. The square is still protected and is considered a cosmetic defect"

Woodpecker offered me a small discount or offered to exchange the square.  I think they handled it very well and I took the discount

I would like to see a picture of the finish on your square, please.  Thanks.

There was no obvious problems with the finish of my squares when I looked them over yesterday. Mounting case works fine but it would benefit from a handhold cutout at the top and will probably route one out myself. Looking forward to trying them out soon.

Have you guys gotten yours yet?

February is nearly over and my square STILL hasn't arrived!
They've had my $200 for nearly seven months, and were supposed to deliver two months ago?!?

If you buy directly form Woodpecker, on a credit card, they will not ding you CC until they ship. Plus I have checked on several of my orders, by e-mail, and always get an answer back in 48 hours or less.

Well that's disappointing to hear... My last two items from them have the mottled/fleck finish. One 1280 square purchased locally and the other a "one time" 670 x 400mm square. That doesn't say much for their quality control if they considered this a defect and still shipped them.

I wrote the retailer that I ordered it through last night. As my payment was made to them, I expect them to do the legwork for me.

In all honesty, I had begun to question whether or not I actually ordered it, and it took combing through Paypal records to confirm.

Joseph C - Oh I got it! I was assuming you ordered directly from Wodpeckers, serves me right! I agree, the retailer you purchased from should get the info for you. As you paid for it a while back, it will be like a present when it arrives, vs mine that will be charged to my card when shipped!

I have one or two items with some flecking in the finish. And a couple that the finish has faded. Going from true red to pinkish red. This is on larger items.  I

Ah, thanks. Doesn't look too bad, but as much as it cost, it should be perfect.

I just got an email saying it should be delivered tomorrow. I was beginning to wonder if they lost my order since the last sales flyer email said the squares has already shipped.

Well received my model 850 and 640 squares today…..YEAH!

AND !    I went to the new Woodpeckers shop today.  I live 15 minutes from the new shop.  The old shop was….well  old and seemed a bit cramped.    The new shop is HUGE!

I called them today because I wanted to buy a 600mm t-square, the woodpeckers web site states that the 600mm t-squares ships out today….but I was told that they wouldn't be ready to ship until some time in April.  I live 15 minutes from the shop and shipping would be $17!  So I thought I would just pick it up……so since they don't have any 600mm t-squares yet…..I was able to buy and pick up a  6" (150mm) and 8"(200mm)  Paolini pocket rule!  [tongue]  [big grin]  [wink]

The reason for this delay I was told, is because they are very much behind schedule because of the move…..plus before they moved to the new shop they where already behind schedule.

Eric (or anyone else that got the 640 + 850 squares, can you check the mm markings for accuracy?  Lay both squares back to back and line up the markings, then move one 10 mm and check the alignment of the markings.  Keep moving it 10mm at a time.  Do they match up?  Mine seem to be off by 1/3 of a mm over 40mm.  Neither of them match my 600mm woodpeckers rule.  Just wondering if it's me only or a batch was turned out like this?

That's very disturbing.  I think I'll rethink my purchase if they can't even get 3 rules to match up.  You'd expect something like this from Harbor Freight but certainly not from Woodpeckers.  Are they made in China? ???

Have really enjoyed the squares thus far, well I've only really used the large one yet, but it's so extremely convenient, huge improvement over using the framing square, especially for squaring up the guide rails. I'll have to check out the increments compared to some other rulers, mine are in inches.
