Which size CT to buy????

You know I was looking at the price of the CT 26/36/48 and the bag size/cost between each one and you come out ahead pretty well with the CT 48 over the CT 26. While the cost is about $100 more for the CT 48 the bags hold about twice as much for about a $2 a bag more. After changing out the bags a few times should have made up that extra cost...what does everyone else think?

Yes this is true. Quite a few years ago I sold my 22 and bought a 33. Partly to cut down on bag change frequency.  At that time the break even point between the 22 and 33 was about 50 bags. After 50 I was saving money. That factored in additional vac cost, bag cost , and bag capacity.  Not sure how many bags would break even for the current line up.

But if using a DD most of the time I don't think this would be a big factor.

CT .. Bigger is better if you have the space and money. Any other stories are just dribble.

Spend as much as you can afford ... Or wait till you can afford what you want.

It's simple - people try to make it complicated!

Portability is also a factor unless it will be in the shop most of the time. Although I guess portability could be included in space?

Surprised noones found a similiar clip as to the one that is used by the long life bags.

I too am cheap at time and sometimes reuse bags.  It depends on what I've been vacuuming.  If just chips I'll carefully open the bottom of the bag and dump the contents in a compost pile.  I then use duct tape to close up the bottom.  The reused bag loses a small amount of volume from the original, but I've never had any trouble. 

Mines is used only with the TS55, now my ten ten router and RO 90/150 sanders and kapex. Nothing in the bag really but dust. So its no biggie. I just put it in the trash can shake the bag and dump it. If it clog up I reach up into hole the bag and losen the dust and shake some more. Dont take but a few minutes.

I wish they would make one with a zipper to reuse.

I completely forgot about the long life bags for the CT26 - I may just get one of those and scrap the Dust Deputy idea. It will take up that much less space without a DD on top of the vac. I still have an issue though with the fact that Festool wants $175 for a freaking vacuum bag? Seems like someone could make a fortune building aftermarket Festool consumables or accessories such as this at prices that undercut Festool - kind of like the Freud and Oshlun blades for Festool TS saws.

I'm sure they're priced accordingly....
Amount of use, cost of  comparable amount of bags saved, convenience, festool premium....and oh yeah the bag itself

On the flip side, I'd rather stick with the DD. More capacity, easier and I'd imagine cleaner emptying, for all intents and purposes unlimited life and cheaper

Absolutely.

Don't know about you local prices and models ... I was thinking 26 - but the 36 was very little more and they both slide under a bench ... so I went 36. The 48 was just too big for my needs.

I'm not into the long life bags as they can get pretty messy (personally I like just dumping a full single use bag in the garbage with not further mess).

I have the mini for portability elsewhere - it was my first Festool DC and it is a great investment- that gives me portability for small jobs.

One vac can do all things, but there will always be a compromise.
