Woodpecker square

Hey Doc!  Welcome to the FOG.  You have gotten some great responses here, just wanted to let you know that if you have a time out error ( I suffer from those a lot) you can usually either copy your text to be used in a new post or click on your browser's back button and then hit post again.  Sometimes, depending on your browser you can also just hit the post button a second time and it will take it.  Try these and you might be able to save re-typing.

THANK YOU Ken and Seth. I had written a paragraph to you guys while you were on-line tonite, but the site shot me down on time limit. I think I will order the 26" square anyway, but I asked Woodpecker if they would  consider including the small pencil holes ( like the one on the saddle squares) in them.

Check out their 32" T - Square, it is great for marking on sheet goods !

[Start of rationalization] I had received the announcement they were making these again.  I'm sure I don't need the 660mm and the 450mm, but I decided to get both because they are available.  If I find I never use one or the other, I'm sure it will be easy to resell and probably recover 100% of my cost (or close).  And lets face it, these are pretty much heirloom quality hand tools, and I've still got some good years left in me, so I can justify the investment.  [End of rationalization]

"Hi, my name is (insert name here) and I am a tool-addict...

The first step is admitting it to yourself. [big grin]

I noticed they still have the 12 inch on sale. Is this too small for squaring up rail on MFT?

It's my understanding that the 12" (1281) is the one used at the Festool training centers.

Yep the 1281 is what we used in Las Vegas.

Spot on.  I was introduced at my first training and have been using it ever since (@ trainings).  We began stocking it as "the" Festool square and they sell very very well.  Woodpeckers 1281 Square

The Woodpeckers 1281 was my first purchase form Woodpeckers [big grin]. One of many now.

I attended the drawers and doors class this spring and we used the 26" woodpecker framing square.  There were a couple smaller squares available for use as well, but the 26" inch was my favorite by far for squaring up the MFT.

Hi guys I'm new here posting my 1st post. [tongue]

Just thought I'd say I've been slabbing up 30 odd 626mm doors today using my Stanley adjustable stock 300mm roofing square against the guide rail & it worked a treat, @ around £20.00 when bought seems good value looking at the cost of some of the squares being mentioned

This?!?! http://www.toolstop.co.uk/stanley-1-45-530-roofing-square-600-x-40cm-p23901

You got a link?! Cus thats is all I can find well some other squares made by stanley but they are not roofing squares.

As a sidenote, definitely consider getting the MDF case to store the square or triangle in. I think I would make my own for the 26" square rather than spend $30, but for the smaller square and triangle it comes with the tool.

Richard.

Peter ,thanks for the tip. My typing speed consumes the 120 min this site gives me pppretttyy quickly. You know my local Festool rep is Dan Hale, one "L" less but just as helpful.

i presume you mean th e120min is when you log in. you can  type larger numbers in there if you wan tand it wont time out as quick. mine is set at mid 3000 s.
also before i post any large or critical posts i copy (control and c) so that if some thing happens i can paste it again.

Seth, I was looking  to purchase that (32" T ruler) but for the moment decided to put all my $s in the ONE TIME TOOLS being  "RETIRED", hoping to have some money left to buy some of their other tools later. I have one question: do you think it would be good to have the 26 inch square with those pencil holes  the saddle square have?

Thanks Alan, there is a lot I have to learn about computers & this site's workings. I am in Minnesota, USA and,( no matter how old the communication revolution is, )  It is still amazing to me to be exchanging notes with you so far away in Ireland. Do not mind me much,I am still in wonder of airplanes.

Hi Richard, I just checked  the Woodpecker site and the case for the smaller  18"  square is sold separately for $29.99. Does anyone else selling it includes the case?

The class I went too was before the 660  framing square was available. In my shop I have used both to square up the MFT/3.

Just ordered the Woodpecker 26" square after checking my old one against my Starrett 12" machinist square.  Cheap squares are great for rough framing (sometimes) but, I decided to bite the bullet and get precision this time.

Anybody know if there any coupons for this item since they ask if you have a coupon at checkout?

Jack

Come on guys,
I had myself talked out of buying the 26" square because of the cost and now I'm thinking of buying both of the sizes!

And I don't think I have the 1281 either.  And all the new Festool tools will be out soon. Let's see, what to sell, what to sell?? ;D

I meant the 1281 square comes with a case. Sorry.
