Woodpeckers MFT Square A Beast

They supply a set of realignment instructions with it.  You're correct that you'll need a reference square to work from.  If you look at the photos, there are two stainless steel pins; one on each leg.  There are the pivots.  There are three black in-hex screws on each leg.  These are loosened slightly, then a small setscrew that you can't see is used to bring the square back into alignment (with a reference square).  Then the hex screws are tightened to lock the angle.

That's pretty clever, the setscrew adjusts the position, and then holds the position and the hex screws lock the position. Thanks...some clever folk down there in Ohio.

I didn't order one because I use the Woodpecker framing square to true my MFT and table saw.

Now that you , OP, have the tool, did I make a mistake? Is there anything the tool can do that the Framing Square can't do?

If you're using 3/4" material and have the rail height set accordingly, the framing square is not tall enough to get a good registration on the rail while set against the fence.  With the MFT square, each leg is 1-1/8" high, and as such gets solid registration with both the fence and the rail.  When I used the framing square, I had to lower the rail to calibrate it, then raise the rail for 3/4" material.  I think this is a better system.

If you are interested give Woodpeckers a call or email. I did that a couple of weeks ago and even though I did not pre order, my MFT Square is due in tomorrow. 1-800-752-0725

I didn't order one either, but did received a call last week from Woodpeckers asking if I was still interested in this square, as they had extras.  That may no longer be the case now.

Search for the threads that appeared when this was offered for sale.  You'll find many suggestions on how to accurately align your MFT without using this square.  I'm not suggesting that the square isn't useful or desired but since you can't order one now other methods might help.

I have also read about people contacting WP about getting a OTT when it's shipping and getting on a list for returned items or cancelled orders.  You might get lucky.

Wow. I never even thought of that. I hope it's not too late. Will be calling first thing in the morning. Thanks for the advice. I just figured the order window closed and I missed out

Thanks guys for the suggestion re-calling them. I always assumed that they made enough just for the order. ( that's why you had to preorder one time tools etc). Long story just got off the phone with Samantha they're shipping mine tomorrow..
As a side note she also mentioned the new parallel guides for the saw will probably not ship now until October.
