If you look at the photos, there are two stainless steel pins; one on each leg. There are the pivots. There are three black in-hex screws on each leg. These are loosened slightly, then a small setscrew that you can't see is used to bring the square back into alignment (with a reference square). Then the hex screws are tightened to lock the angle.
That's pretty clever, the setscrew adjusts the position, and then holds the position and the hex screws lock the position. Thanks...some clever folk down there in Ohio.
