Adjustable squares are actually better - a solid billet could be dropped and then you are out the money with no easy way to re-square. An adjustable square gives you that option.
I have the 26" Woodpecker's square and have been very happy with it for both MFT as well as other work. This square seems to be of more limited use. Cool design, yes, but pricey for what I consider to be less broad utility than Woodpecker's other squares.
