You not bolted them collar on yet

Nope been working on a job for builder and making more gymnastic rings and display boards

Then spent few days putting scaffold up so we can tile the roof And do facia and sofit.

Got builder to come mine today to brick up gable end now I have scafold up around the building.  I was his  labourer 2day

Then I gotta make more gymnastic rings this week and more display boards and the builder wants me for few days and he said he will offer his service again next weekend.

Then hopefully I'll get you to come and help get support facia and sofit on etc.

So I'm going to leave  the metal plates for now loll.  Plus  ill slide them down the bar out of the way so I can clean the oak of more easily with out needing to go round the metal collars.

That looks great Jmb!  Do youorder the oak to size or cut it yourself.

I got them dimensioned for me. I just work out what size I need tell them job done. Wait for delivery.

In the past me and my mate did it our selfs big mistake!! Them timbers where slightly smaller than these ones and it was hard work!  Getting them straight on the surface planner was just awkward.

These timbers are that heavy two blokes to just carry them a metre is hard work lol.  My fork lift was a god send!

It didn't work out cost affective doing them your self for how much they charge and they come bang on size and sqaure and straight!

I can't fault to service. So from now on I get them dimensioned.

No in the UK we tile most our roofs and my roof is no exception.

Missed this update.. looking impressive, can't wait to follow the further updates :-)

Their has been progress since.  Tiles are on Veluxes are in some of the Cedar facia and gable ends are  on.

I have kinda left it at that at the moment!

and started downstairs building a workshop inside the workshop  [big grin]

I have made  (not finished) an area for the CNC to live!  When its running I want to be able to close the doors and not have that thing screaming at me all day!

thanks for the update picture, sorry was off skiing.

For your CNC room when you built the stud wall did you bother using any king of specific acoustic insulation?

I remember from your days old plans that upstairs was going to be your newly-wed love shack.. is that still the plan to have it as accommodation

Thanks
Matt

Don't upset me I have missed out on two snowboarding Holliday's last week! Gutted :(  I declined the offers to come because of work commitments.

Yeah its acoustic Rockwool well so it says on the pack but to me it feels very much like Regular Rockwool.

I have yet to make some large bi-fold doors for it so I can close the room off.

Not sure what's going to happen upstairs yet for now I am just going to make it into one large room and leave at that for now. Till I have downstairs finished to how I want it and get a few jobs finished off.

Gotta make some money so I can buy some machinery! A bit broke at the moment!

Heeee heee.

I would love to post some more pictures for you lot to see but............

At the moment not much progress since last update. I have been busy catching up with clients jobs and keep getting more work in.  I Lost my joiner mate for 6weeks he's gone Australia.

Just left with Andy joiner (who is busy himself) and Deano (social) who's also busy.  I know this other joiner which me and my mate are going to see if he's any good .  I have worked with him before so I know he's a good worker but he's a workshop joiner and from past experience many workshop joiners are not very good on site.

Any way back to the workshop.   Still don't have three phase yet..... Umm

Just pricing up some cedar so far about £5-6000 +vat just for some cladding and 2x2 for the corners.  Little bit steep for my liking!

Ummm  I bought two sets of sectional garage doors which one of them I have already fitted.

Umm what else........nothing much to say really.

Soon as there is more progress ill post pictures.

JMB, I know what you mean there.  When i was in Mason Biz, I did everything from hand digging footings to intricate toppings of chimneys.  I went thru a lot of hirings along the way.  Whatever the job, I was right along with the work.  I worked with concrete, brick, blocks, stone, plaster and after did my own carpentry, or worked with the carpenters.

I did not expect a mason hire to do digging, or a laborer to do finish work.  I did try to find help who could go from brick to block to stone.  I never found such a person in any of my hires.  I did have a couple of mentors who, when i went into business on my own, would often work with me, or I with them, and would do everything the same as I.

From what i gather from so many of your posts, I am thinking that, even tho you appear to be a top of the heap joiner,(as you put it) you seem capable of doing anything necessary to get the job done.

NOTE:  I am among those who get impatient waiting for your next installment here  [popcorn] [popcorn] [popcorn]

Sorry about keeping you waiting.  Would love to give you more progress on the workshop.

But......

Currently working on

A oak roof truss (tiling, concreting, lead work, cast guttering. They want me sort it all)

Built in wardrobes

Custom built utility room shaker style doors (basically a small kitchen)

General joinery on a couple of jobs  ( doors, skirting, flooring, roofing kitchen fitting)

Cedar cladding

Built in seat for small porch

Turn a small gym into a oak shoe room after that might be building a green house

Gotta build a pull out bed on runners

On going gymnastic rings and other equipment

Display boards for a sign company

A custome oak cupboard ( likely lost the job, they don't wanna wait )

Also lost job to make a few windows and doors. Which potentionaly had more work doing internal work inside barn.

Gotta help my mate build oak wardrobe I let him down last week no time. So he is demanding me to do two days next week for him to make up for it. He would prefer to pass the entire job onto me. All oak skirting stairs etc.

In the pipeline I got a oak summer house to build.
Might have two to do not sure on the second one.

Then in my "spare" time I have to do jobs on my house and find time to work on the workshop.

Hence why the workshop progress is slow.

I did this yesterday soak away for the worshop which is also going to be a green house above  for my dad.
