Now that is has finally gotten above 25 degrees, I went for an outside walk. Some of the locals have mentioned that the city park trails have been cleared very well, so I gave it a chance. I went to one where I normally ride, basically scouting for tomorrow. In the back of that park is a small rental venue. Seems like an odd place for such a thing? Maybe birthday parties? (if the birthday is in the winter) Seems small and out-of-the-way for a wedding reception.
Anyway. Since I was walking, rather than riding, I stopped to take a few pics. I built these big display shelving units in the summer of 2016. The shelves are totally empty and have been all along. I saw a few pictures in a couple of them once. I was riding through when some caterers were setting up. I'm sure there were other times, it has been almost 10 years, but every time I have looked, epmty.
Since it's a rental, the doors are locked. Any kind of display would be safe. Why nothing?

This type of shelving and spacing of shelves is very peculiar. Based on the fact that there's no glass covers, whatever is intended to go there is available for anybody to handle. But, some shelves are so high that most people won't be able to reach the items there. So, not book, not pamphlets, not trophies, not tools... I'm stumped!

Alright Guybo - gotta ask - did you take this or photoshop it? Because while I thought it was cool to have put stuff on the shelves, changing the seasons is quite impressive.
What I want to know is why did they uninstall the power sockets on the walls under the shelves? ;-)

It's kinda like Spot the Difference!

Could the building be an exhibition space? Maybe where local people could show and sell things they've made?
Where I live (UK) there sometimes visitor centres in parks that show things made my local crafts people and let visitors buy those products.
Things like jams, chutneys, honeys, cooking sauces, small toys, paintings, crafts.

Regards
Bob

That could be a pic form another time I was there? I have taken some at other visits. I was there once when a wedding caterer was setting up. It took some digging, but I found them, apparently 2018.

It's a rental for pretty much whatever. The craft fairs around here are outdoors, in the streets of the town square.

The shelves are on pins, totally adjustable, but I don't get the odd spacing? It wasn't that way before.

It’s nice seeing your work out in public.

From the wall sign, the very unique Scioto (river) word popped out to me.

I grew up in C-bus.

Hopefully the next time we visit for a Buckeye football game, I can buy you a cup of joe.

Although, with USC and UCLA having joined the B1G, it will be much easier to see them play in SoCal.

O-H

It's funny to hear people mis-pronounce it. (Pataskala gets it too)
I would definitely take you up on that.

I just don't get the conference thing anymore? It used to be regional, then somehow got even more commercialized?
The B1G 10 was essentially "midwest" then Maryland and Rutgers were let in to draw that coastal TV market. Now 2 Californias, a Washington, and Oregon.........hardly midwest

Be sure to let me know, if you are coming this way.

This brought back memories of Cup O Joe on High Street. Used to stop there with my son when he was at OSU. And we'd also stop across the street at Lavash Cafe. Fun times!

The B1G commissioner (past & present) is a smart one.

With two expansions, they brought in more TV revenue and also increased the nationwide exposure to fans and to high schoolers.

Reflect on it when growing up. I never watched Channel 10 WBNS TV because they showed SEC games. I had no interest in those teams and players — we were clueless about them.

The West Coast fans are now invested in ALL of the B1G because their kids go to those schools. Their kids are wanting to be in an out of state school.

The TV deal was very smart. All the major networks except for ESPN are showing B1G games. We can watch East Coast games in the morning and the West Coast games in the night.

SEC who? ACC who? Big 12 who?

I believe Woody would love the changes to the B1G.

Although, I’m fairly certain Woody would not survive in this era of NIL and Transfer Portal. It would stress him out too much.

On our travels, it’s fun talking to strangers when they see my OSU shirt. They can’t help but strike up a conversation.

Although in Türkiye, the guy wearing the Xichigan hat definitely veered away from me. LOL

In the 80’s, on High Street along the OSU campus it was Souvlaki Palace and $1 gyros. And also Zantigos further towards Clintonville.

Good times through rose-colored glasses. : - )
Zantigo lasted that long? There were several around in the area I grew up and I remember them closing.
The one on W Broad st. was only a few hundred feet from a Taco Bell. It was later converted, and they both operated for a while. I really don't remember what year that was though.

I get that it makes financial sense, but it takes away from the original regional intent. SEC literally meaning South East
ACC - Atlantic Coast PAC - 10 Pacific Coast.
I realize the Big 10 doesn't specify, but we are well beyond 10 at this point. Heck the 1 inserted into the B1G was to add an eleventh, without changing the name.
When I was young, the only bowl game OSU could play in was the Rose Bowl. It was usually USC or UCLA, National Championship or bust.
I get it that modern communication has concentrated society, but it seems to obscure the idea of local along with it.
I know, crusty old dude, who walked 3 miles to school, uphill both ways, against the wind, in 3 feet of snow, with my little brother on my back......but it was a thing. The whole 330 million people are not a "community" even if the world wants it to be that way.
TV has come so far though, and this is a major market, but I bet very few people realize that it was very different back then. First of all, the games were not on TV "live", radio only. We had to wait until Sunday afternoon, for it to be played on WOSU, which was a PBS station......and this was in the era of Archie Griffin, Pete Johnson, and Cornelius Greene!
Those games were not live? seriously? The only 2 time Heisman Trophy winner, yes I remember that happening.

I can go on, about a lot of stuff.....that coffee might take a minute 🤪
