About to click the OF1010 "Buy" button on Bob's site but.....

Bill - you are THE MAN!!!
I will try this today as like you I don't have the edge guide for my new 1010.
Thank you for trying this.
Pete

Thanks, Bill.  Your modification idea makes purchase of an OF 1010 router more attractive to me since I already have a 1400 and the accessories you used.

Dang, Bill has the router less than 24 hrs and makes a mod that has not been done before as far as I know.
Even though some of have had this stuff for a couple of years.
  Well done x 2 !    8)

Eiji and Brice , thanks for the input on the 700 trim router.

Thanks Dave,

If you are actually thinking about getting one I've spent today working on a review of the 1010.  Of course it doesn't have any operation comments because I haven't used it yet but I do think I've captured everything about the router physically.

I usually don't make my work available before release but since I'm not writing this for anyone, just myself, you're welcome to peruse the many pics of the router.  Just remember it's a work in progress and will probably have many corrections before I actually release it.

Bill, that's a very well done, detailed review as far as you have developed it.  I especially liked the photo and written comparisons of the OF 1010 to the OF 1400 and a Bosch Colt, and of the 1/4" and 8mm collets and straight bits.  Very helpful to anyone (myself included) considering these alternatives.

What software applications are you using to create these review documents?  I'm hoping to improve the quality of my posts on FOG.

If it run as smooth and proportionately as quiet as my OF 1400, you are going to be very pleased with using it.

Dave,

Thanks, but like I said it's only the first cut at it.  Usually at this point I use it for a while and then go back and cover all the stuff I missed.  I'm kinda having withdrawals because I'm in a hotel in VA and the router is sitting on one of  my MFT's at home...just waiting to make some chips I'm sure :)  My wife typically dreads when I decide to do a review because I tend to spend all my weekends (usually the only time I'm home) working with the tools and not working on the myriad of honey-do's that have stacked up....this time is no exception ;)

As for the software it is nothing special, just Microsoft's FrontPage and the format is something I've been using for a long time and while I've seen plenty of better formats this one is mine so I've been sticking with it for about 10 years.

It does run as smooth as its big brother and is quiet.  I experimented a bit with some videos where I compare both the noise level and startup torque to other routers but so far I've not been able to achieve an accurate video/audio representation.  But since I haven't had it long I'm hopeful I'll figure it out.

Is there a difference between the old model (574240) and the new model (574266) ?

The only difference I could find was that the (574240) included the side stop (edge guide).  Did it come with the collet wrench?  It was not listed.

I know the old one is discontinued just curious.  Never know when you might just find one in stock some where  ::)

Thanks for the help,
Tim

Tim,

Correct, it's the edge guide. Yes, all came with the collect wrench - imagine if they didn't? :o

So almost a year ago I was working on finishing up the review and I knocked over my tripod and killed my video camera....and put the review aside and never got back to it.....until today after someone emailed me a question.

So after using the router for a year I added my conclusion and posted it on the main page of my review site.  Still no video's as I haven't replaced the camera yet.  At some point I'll get a new camera and finish taking videos of it in action.
