Are the bosch/mafell rails compatible with the Festool/Makita track saws?  I read that the bosch and mafell saws can use festool rails, but nothing the other way around.

Thanks

The mafell saw (MT55) has a black plastic filler strip that can be unscrewed from the baseplate to reveal the channel that rides along the protrusion on the Festool track.  I'm not sure how close the blade comes to the splinterguard and whether it can be calibrated so it's identical to another saw.  The bosch is probably similar, if you can get a photo of the baseplate and see that black filler strip secured with torx screws, that's it!

And you're correct, a Festool saw on Bosch/Mafell rails is a no-go.

I was hoping to get some Bosch rails to use with my Makita.  [sad] They have some useful lengths that Festool or Makita don't make.

Can you cut down a longer Makita rail to suit your needs?  Obviously you could with Festool, but looking at the prices, it's significantly more money than the Bosch track, so you're paying a pretty steep penalty for the longer Festool track only to cut it down.

You could mill a slot in the saw base for the Bosch rail to fit  [big grin]. Might split the base in half, but at least you'll learn something.  [poke]
