UPDATE:
Good news, the 24 grit Saphir worked, there's no more paint on my door. [blink]
Okay, the real update, I used a very mild Meguiars product called Scratch X. It worked well and 15 minutes of hand work I was done. Hats off to the young guy at Auto Zone that was very helpful. I'm always surprises at the level of professionalism of the stuff at that store. These people can't be making much and yet they really seem to care about making sure the customer gets what they are looking for. And of course a big thanks to everyone here for the advice. [thumbs up]
