Building kitchen cabinets. Video series.

What did you use to set the router depth?  Looks like a set of thickness gauges that attach to each other magnetically. Metric or imperial?

That would be the Fastcap Mag shims.  The metric version.  They are magnetic.  25mm total thickness with 2mm increments and the metal plate is 1mm thick.

Plus, they have holes spaced 32mm apart 37mm from the front edge….for quick marking of true 32 measurements.    Also, the corners have different radius for quick marking if

you want to soften a corner of a board or something.….very cool little setup gauges.

I have all the base cabinets done.

Eric:
The finish on the doors look great.
Tim

Thanks Tim!    I ended up using Minwax  Helmsman Spar Urethane.  I'm not setup for spraying, I wanted to so badly to speed up the finishing process, but instead I used a nice black china

bristle brush.  Made sure I cleaned the wood off very well with the vacuum and then a micro fiber cloth and denatured alcohol.  It went on very nicely.  Two coats.  Finished with a light

sanding of 500 grit granat and some fine and ultra fine scuffing pads and then used some good old elbow grease to apply a paste wax and buffed out with sheep skin buffing pad.

Probably over kill…..but I'm know for over thinking/doing things    [unsure].

LOTS of labor involved in finishing the doors.

The Kreg Automaxxs use a 5/16" - 18 screw.  I use a 2" clamping knob centered from underneath with Precision Dogs dog which have a 8mm thru hole.  On top, under the clamp I used a 1/4" polycarbonate disk cut with a hole saw to keep the Kreg from damaging the top.

Here is part 19 !    I'm starting to think this series will never end!  In this video I place the domino mortises, shelf pin holes and pocket screws for the wall cabinets.

Enjoy!

Take care,
Eric

The high-speed erock is great, I just don't understand why my projects take soooo much longer.

What is the bushing used at 0:53 to secure what appears to be a Kreg clamp?

Jeff that's a bench dog.  If you do a search here on the FOG you'll be able to find a couple members who make and sell them.

Thanks for the info, Eric.  I see that Tool Improvements has taken a break from manufacturing bench dogs. Do you think the Quas Dogs would work with the Kreg clamp?  If not, any recommendations?

Hoochy mamas dancing…….maybe I could get more guys to watch my videos if I install a pole and some mirrors in a corner of my shop…….. [scratch chin]    [eek]

Part 20.    No mumbo jumbo chit-chat in this video……just getting down to business and getting things done.

This video shows me cutting up some Mahogany making the face frames for the wall cabinets.

Take care guys!
