Bulk XL Dominos

The shop I work in, we do a decent amount of solid wood doors every year. Mostly interior doors. We do use a domino xl, but we simply cut down the larger sticks. We used to make our own sticks but honestly for the price it is not worth it.

Eventually you'll reach the lower limit of the equation, which is controlled by the price of the base material used to make the tenons plus your labor costs.

I would also guess that most people expect to get a per-unit price break on larger bags, so if the COG on the smaller bag or the stick is already close to the asymptote, there's no room left to give a price break by doubling, tripling, or 10x'ing the bag size.

Most of the packs seem to have the same overall volume and weight as each other (14x100 90pc is the same weight as 14x140 70pc), so I'd imagine that's how Festool chose to price them.

So what I'm hearing is that there are small-scale production shops using the XL and that producing them in-house isn't cost effective. Both I already knew.

What I'm not hearing is that there are options for bigger packs. That TayTools lead is interesting though, I'll follow that up and post back.

It would probably help if we understood the end goal.  I think everyone is assuming that it's a price thing, rather than some other goal such as convenience or stock-keeping.

Is it price sensitivity/breaks for larger bundles?  I was surprised that there is an almost 33% price break on the 5mmx30mm - 1800 count compared to buying 6 of the 5x30 300 count packs, same with the 100 vs 600 counts of the 8x50mm tenons.
