Same company, different location. It's just up the street from the last one. This one had to more closely match some other features in the building. Somebody is acting like it's something fancy, by calling it knotty Oak. As far as I can see, it's just lower grade. It is a little harder to get, because everybody wants the best, clearest material. It actually took extra time to get it.
The size and shape are pretty similar to the other one, but this one gets a quartz base and tops.
I took a few pics, while it was in progress, but I almost forgot, when it was done. I already had it split open before I remembered.
Overlapping/weaving the seam, like that, it almost disappears. It will be even better, when it goes back together, since the finish guy wiped some stain onto the ends, after it was broken down.

No secret. You can clearly see it, in the pics of the inside. It's a woven fiber product, impregnated with some kind of resin. It resembles fiberglass, but it has a lot of layers and I assume cured in some kind of pressure device. It is very dense/heavy. It doesn't drill too bad. I only sharpened the bit once, but sawing is another matter. I can be done with a fairly ordinary triple-chip blade (slowed down) but it is still slow going and dulls pretty quickly. The Festool diamond tip blade does a much better job, though the manufacturer recommends an abrasive type blade. I think that's because they expect the average person to do this with a circular saw, and those blades are easy to get.
