Used my new ctl sys for the first time today. It’s a nice little vac.
I do really like the way it fits in with the rest of the systainers.
I used it with a sander and for general clean-up. Works great.
It is about the same dimensions as the mini, without wheels that is.
So I guess it is rather bulky relatively speaking. That is mainly because there is an empty sys 1 on top. It’s great for storage and transport, but when I use it I want it to be as compact as possible.

The bag is really small, I’m definitely buying the long-life bag, problem solved

When you use the vac unit alone the power plug needs some attention. It is clearly designed to be used wth the garage sys on top in wich case the cord is secured by the top systainer. When the vac unit is used solo the cord tends to slip out and the plug gets pulled out sideways. That’s no good. There should be some stress protection on the cord.

Very glad that the blowing facility is back. When you use the air outlet it is immediately clear that the airflow goes through the motor. The air from the outlet is significantly hotter than the surrounding air.
The bypass consists of a valve to the dust bag compartment. When the pressure in the compartment gets to low the valve opens and lets in air into the dust bag compartment.

Do not open the lid of the vac when the backdoor is open, you’ll wreck it.

When one uses the strap or the extra front handle ( ZSG –Sys ½ TL/1) there is the danger of blocking the air outlet when you place it in the ground while it’s running.
The air outlet is on the opposite side.

I want to use it when ever I work in tight spaces or on ladders and such. The smaller the better. I prefer to use it without the empty sys 1 on top. Nice and compact.
I guess my favourite using position would be with the vac upright with the controls on top. This way the footprint of the machine is the smallest. The hose connection is the lowest so it will not easily be pulled over. And the controls are best to reach. In this position the air outlet will not get blocked.

But how do I handle it, there is nothing to grab, where is the handle?
When I got back in my shop this afternoon I immediately attacked my problem. I made a handle from some scrap material. Haven’t had time to put a lot of thoughts in it but it works. Better start to optimize the design.

Obviously there will be far better ways to handle the single vac-unit. Any thoughts any one?
The Festool designers must have set out to make the vac as small as possible. The main design focus however seems to have been the use with the hose garage on top ... that way it gets’s about 40% bigger than it needs to be. I hope Festool adapts the design to also optimize the use of the single vac unit.
All in all it is a great little machine, I’m sure it will be my most used vac on the job.
