CTL SYS arrived today!!!!!!!!!!

Will one of these fit on top if you remove the hose and without the hose garage?  Should be easy to drill a hole in a Sys-toolbox for the hose if you wanted to.  Maybe two holes so that the hose comes in through the bottom of the Sys-toolbox and out the end or one of the sides.  Would give you some other options that way.

I may not be getting the view correct in my mind on the picture that shows the inside of the bag compartment, but is the bottom open under the vac unit systainer ?!

Aaaah, I missed the fact that there is a tub for the filter and bag. Hmmmmm, why would it be like that  [scratch chin]

I bet it is so larger capacity systainer dust bin units can be attached to the bottom some time down the road.  [cool]

when the green lever is pushed down the whole tub moves towards the motor section. That way the filter seal is connected air tight to the motor inlet. A seal on the lid of the vac closes the tub from above.

Hope you're right on that thought path Seth!
 
I wonder if this opening is just a way of gaining a few extra mm in order to utilize the full height of the systainer for the (already quite small) dust bag, as well as a means to help users with getting the dust bag bin and the filter out of the systainer by pushing them out of systainer through the hole in the bottom. Expanding the dust bag in a super-portable vacuum seems to make little sense, with so many larger size vacuums readily available.

I think this is more likely than any possible future capacity expansion (which would completely defeat the purpose of the unit).
Bag design issues aside, having a larger capacity add-on that still had to work through that opening would have all sorts of circulation issues given the filter location...
 
    It could be to gain space but I think it would only be about 3 - 4mm. Certainly a possibility.

    Add on modules would preserve the original size and foot print but also allow expansion when needed. The whole would still be kept in the foot print of a systainer as well. I think the air circulation would be fine. It would just have a deeper bag. I am thinking that the bag would still be in just 1/2 the systainer dropping straight down with the other 1/2 being a storage compartment (although access could be a problem). The orientation of the filter to the inlet is swapped but in the same 90 degree relationship in the older CT22/33 vacs. Which were also made in a CT44 and CT55. All with the same top and filter arrangement but just taller with deeper bags. And those all had added storage compartments like the CT33 compartment.

  Could be for some other ingenious plan too  [cool]

I love the idea of this, my only concern is you would have to have it constantly running on manual to work with the battery TSC55
 
this is ridiculous , just when you think that's it no need for any more kit , then I treated myself to the new ets ec  150, & ive pre ordered the c18 ,& I simply must have one of these , ive just thought its the wifes birthday in a couple of weeks ime going to have to sell a lung or something !!!!!!!

You won't need this vac, with the TSC 55. As this saw is designed to run with its own dust bag. No cords or hoses to get in the way.
 
I'm on the fence, but I'm a bit worried about the max power rating of 1200 watts on the auto-start power outlet :s
 
The US$ pricing should be lower than what others have posted here as probable once it hits the U.S.

All prices listed on products advertised in the Eurozone must include VAT by law.  That means the prices listed in Germany include a 19% VAT and I think 20% in the UK.  So you have to strip that out to determine what the base price is before tax.

At current exchange rates, the price for the CTL SYS in Germany would be US$ 320 without the VAT.  Probably lower in UK due to ban on price fixing, which means dealers have some leeway to discount.

You are correct that the UK VAT is 20%.

The price for 584202 in the UK as advised by Festool UK is £300.00:
