Dust Collection

I'm trying to plan out my dust collection for a bit more permanent solution.
I currently have a Festool CT22 Vacuum that I use for my TS75 Saw, OF1400 Router and for general cleanup.
I also have a Ridgid Shop Vac that I connect to my Ridgid Tablesaw and Oscillating Spindle Sander.

Here is my question:
I'm hoping to get a jointer/planer soon and I know that will require a real dust collector.  I was thinking an Oneida Cyclone...
But I don't think the Oneida will be very good for things like a miter saw, hinge boring machine, drill press, etc.

So should I just plan on using the shop vac for the smaller tools and the cyclone for the larger machines?  I can group the larger machines together to reduce ducting.

I have a lot of collectors and vacs, For me whether I hook up the Jet 1100, the CT 33, the Fin Turbo's or the Grizzly cyclone they all work to get the dust out equally with the smaller tools. I do have the miter hooked to a CT 33 and I can say that really the central cyclone does work better, but not enough better to  run duct work to it, yet. So I really do not agree with you that the bigger units will not work on those smaller machines, they do for me. I use my CT 's and Feins for sanders mostly as I don't need that be cyclone on all the time for that, but does it work for the sanders, you betcha.  :)

Thanks for the response - glad to hear the larger collectors work with the smaller tools.  I really like the new Oneida Smart Collectors but they are pretty pricey!  Supposedly it's able to adjust suction to optimize use for a larger / smaller dust collection port.  It would be great to have one collector and just duct everything to that... I wonder how other cyclones compare with that Oneida Smart Collector.  Has anyone used one?

I find the drill press one of the most difficult to have an attached DC set up on. Anything I have tried ( including Loc Line) has been either not close enough to the bit to be effective or in the way of clamps, moving the work piece, or something else.

I ended  up keeping a shop vac next to the press with the 10'  (2" dia.) hose hanging over a hook mounted to the wall behind and to the left of the press. It is close enough to easily reach. I leave the vac runnung and just grab the hose nozzle to suck up the chips as needed. I don't take it off the hook , I have the hose length adjusted so that I can just swing it out to the press table.
