Festool Kapex stand!!!!

Do you have a SawHelper Brice?  I wouldn't mind measuring one up for enough detail to build.

I do have one. These things are so simple almost anyone with a welder and metal cutting tools could make them. That's assuming the aluminum extrusions are a stock item and they probably are.

If you will, snap a few (detailed) photos sometime, even if you post them on your website.

I'll do that and email them to you.

The saw helper is just a simple X-fold type stand/base for the saw.

The extrusions for the wings is the only odd item to the whole setup.

The Bosch gravity rise stand is nice but, it is really big in the folded down position.

i agree that the bosch is cumbersome in it's closed position...it fills the void for now!

chintzy ?
lee

Flimsy, unstable, rickety, etc.

It looks to be just a bit of tubing and a couple of wheels from my CT.

I could be wrong but, by the picture it looks chintzy to me.

Anyone got one yet and is it solid, any comments would be welcome.

I wasn't referring to the gravity rise stand, I was referring to the older "T3" stand.

Wow, only 2000 Euros for a miter saw stand. what a deal! Looks like it must have, oh, $100 worth of parts in it, too...

I love Festool but really, this is just nuts. Do carpenters in Europe make that much more money than they do here? or is this like the $9000 Snap-on tool chests?

I'm guessing he got that price from the link in the OP.

However, that figure (EUR1939.70) includes the saw. The stand on it's own is EUR361.65, or EUR661.90 with both extensions.

Talk about the Saw Helper all you want, but I don't think you can get them.  I live in the Twin Cities area, not far from the new Saw Helper Digs.

After emailing, leaving phone numbers and not getting any responce.  I found the address of the Company and drove out to there digs.  No one around and no name on the door.  It didn't look good for any new purchasing.

I saw a picture on the web site for brackets that would connect to the Kapex, for anyone that had the Saw Helper table extentions.  That was my reason for trying to scare somebody up at Saw Helper.

I got my Saw Helper many years ago from the Inventor and the Originator of The Saw Helper Company.  He used to have an old school Building that he did everything out of.  His sister worked with him.  He is good people.

Hmm, I stand corrected. So it's only about $850 for the stand with extensions.

the prosecution rests...

On another note, I really like my ridgid MSUV stand because it folds up easily and has big wheels, easy to roll outside. Downside is no ruler so I always have to measure before I cut, the built in stops are garbage. I think the hot setup would be to make extensions that sat on top of the MSUV's rollers and were locked to the saw so you could use rulers and stops. Anyone tried something like this?

The prosecution should be aware that those are the list prices which were quoted from that site, and that they include sales tax at 19% - since they are 'accessories' rather than 'tools', they can be discounted. For example in the UK the full set can be had for as little as GBP389.

That price also includes VAT (sales tax) at 17.5%, so ex VAT it's about GBP330. Which, at today's rate of 1.4548 is USD482. Considering that Festools usually sell in the US for slightly less than other markets (there are other threads on this elsewhere on the FOG), I wouldn't be surprised if, when it becomes available over there, it will be available for somewhere around $449.

That's my guess, anyway.

That is pretty much my setup, but for my Milwaukee.  For the Kapex, I am using the Ryobi (don't laugh) stand with home-made extension wings that just sit on the rollers and attach to the crown stops.  My extension wings are about 54" long, and I am thinking of making a longer set.  For a fence, I am using the Woodpecker Super Track and Kreg Flip Stops.
