FOG lagging very much last 3 days

The FOG has become very slow again - nearly 45 seconds to load at the start and then it took several goes to manage to get a reply going for this thread.

Sorry Shane.

It did get intermittently better since my last post on this thread, but this morning (AEST) the FOG is even worse, particularly to open'Unread'.

Could be the SawStop discussion!  [eek] [big grin]

Okay I have worked it out....

Please would all FOG members with birthdays on odd days (1, 3...17,19...29,31) only try and navigate at odd minutes past the hour (1, 3...57,59) and people with even birthdays do it on the even minutes.

Moderators are allowed to do both odd and even minutes provided they keep their fingers crossed and promise not to say anything rude about me.

Shane can do what he likes as he will anyway.

Yeah, seems pokey again.

I run SMF as well on two different sites (both 1.1 and 2.0 on the same server), similar levels of activity, they have a few backend optimizations that they recommend that seem to have helped me a lot. I turned off caching and it seems to do even better. And I don't have a ton of resources either, just 1GB RAM, and I'm sharing CPU time with others through virtualization.

I don't know how hands-on you are w/ the administration, but feel free to PM me.

Guys, apologies but I am on vacation this weekend, through tomorrow. I'll have a look at this ASAP. I suspect it's host related.

The server is an 8-core, dedicated server, 16GB RAM. The processor and RAM usage is nominal. The database is in good shape. No changes recently to the forum itself, so I don't know what has caused the recent sluggishness unless its the host. I will do some additional troubleshoot upon my return, including testing the time to first byte, etc. to see if it's a connectivity issue or server issue.

Sorry for the continuing intermittent problems.

Shane

Shane

Take the time off, you deserve it...  I'm sure this will not cause an international issue unless it continued past Tues noon.

For what it's worth, I've been responding to some PMs and such. The forum appears to be responding quickly for me right now.

Hi,

If you find the site slow try a tracert (if windows or traceroute if linux) to the url www.festoolownersgroup.com or the ip address 74.208.79.91. That should tell you the hop that's slow.

Currently it appears reasonable.

. . . . because all you 'guys' in NA are starting to go to ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Maybe, just a thought, has there been any significant increase in traffic of late?

I could definitely see this having been a possible issue during the last few days of the ReCon sale. But now? I kinda doubt it...

When Shane gets back I'm sure he can look at traffic to the site. He seems to be on top of that kind of stuff.

I know the forum just had a slow down and may have been inaccessible for a few minutes. I made a configuration change and had to reboot the server. Still working to figure out the culprit with our slow downs.

CPU, RAM and disk usage are nominal, in fact low. Tracert, ping and other connectivity tests don't show any glaring problems.

However, using my browser tools to diagnose response times, various assets are slow to respond at times. Sometimes a javascript file, sometimes the header image, sometimes something else. No real trend.

Will see if this changes helps things...

Well, I think I figured out the *cause* of the slow down. Not sure why it was causing an issue, but hopefully this does the trick. [blink]

If you have any slow down issues, let me know. Again, sorry for the issues over the past few days.
