How do you keep your splinter strips on your rails?????

use acetone to clean off the old adhesive, and a fine mesh scratch pad.  be sure to use a pressure roller to attach.  my rails are often in hot sites so when I store them I use spring clamps on the ends to keep them from shifting.

I just bought some Transfer tape from Lee Valley for this purpose.    I will put the transfer tape down first and then stick the splintergaurd to that.  Only time will tell how it works out, anyone else try this?

I just had a look at that, and it says it's made in England. Does anyone know where to get it in the UK?

This is one reason why I prefer the Mafell guide rail.  The splinter strip is housed inside the guide rail itself so no adhesives are needed.  Festool should re-design for something similar.  I have the Mafell saw so I can use it on the Festool rails but decided to sale all my Festool Rails(had over 5K in rails) and switch.

Don't know if that's value or distance, but either way that's a LOT of rails...

5k in rails! That would be 38 x 1.4metre rails.  Guessing you would have a variety of sizes longer and shorter which would  balance the quantity out.

Mine have lasted a long time, but when i replaced them i just got the Bosch splinter guard strip  for a lot less cash. The Bosch version is a lot cheaper. You can now get 2 x1600 rails . bag and joining bar for about £100. The Mafell would be more than double that.

"Lots of rails"  

Well I had over four saws…..and each Saw had a full set of rails up to the 5000(which is 197" long).

Earlier this month there was a thread about how I had said that one 'can't make more than a wage' with a track saw…...Well I know more than I let on.

I bought a few of ^^^^ rails, here is the trick. First clean the rail with laquer thinner, allow to dry to ensure it is 100% clean, then wipe the rail again but fore the rail is 100% dry put the strip on.  What happens is the laquer thinner will slightly disolve the adheasive, but once it flashes off the glue will reactive at full strengh.  By using this procedure you can re-use the splinter strips a few times over, in fact I am using the 3000mm rails strip from the previous owner.  JAvais could vslidate how the strips were falling off the 3000mm rail.

My splinter guard would not stick. So I applied a little heat with a heat gun and bam it stick like magic.
