I'm leaning towards the Carvex. I'm aware of the tilt-base issue and I don't think it will affect me much (and I think either festool or someone else will offer a proper tilt base shortly). Is there another jig saw I should consider?

I personally haven't found an issue with the angle base. I mean it'll take some practice like a lot of Festool stuff but I actually really enjoy the base. There are definitely members on here who hate it but I've also seen a good amount say they like it.

The Mafell is an option  [big grin]

Also the Bosch JS572EBL would be another good option.

Do you have a preference between barrel or D grip?

I'm definitely have a preference for the barrel grip. I was looking at the Bosch, though I'd probably go for the JS572EB and fit it into a systainer. The Carvex seems more advanced but I'd love to hear any personal comparisons.

Have you considered the PS300, it's a cracking tool and a lot cheaper than the Carvex.

I have both the Bosch and the Carvex. Dust collection pushes me toward the Festool jigsaw. Both are excellent products.

When I was looking to replace my 25 yr. old Makita, I looked at 4 saws: Makita's top of the line saws, Bosch's & the 4 corded Festool's. I ended up going with the top handled Carvex & if you check my other post on this saw you will see why I choose this saw. The only thing I could say is try all the ones you are looking at, hold them in you hands & cut some wood or metal if you can. Then make your choice. I know that the Maffel is the best on the market, but it's price point was beyond my limit for a tool that's used in the field.

I've got the Carvex and accessory kit. Love it. The Bosch is a really good saw too and CPO Bosch is having a Presidents' Day sale for the machine and l boxx at 15% off right now.

I own a Trion. Demoed the Carvex and the Bosch barrel-grips. Bought a P1cc, if you can afford it, get the Mafell.

The Mafell definitely looks awesome but it isn't in the budget. The first job is going to be cutting foam board insulation so dust collection is a must and I'm not sure that the Bosch has that requirement covered (?). While the PS300 is a possibility, I think I'd rather get the 420 for $75 more. I dig the flexibility offered by the quick-change base and I prefer to get brush-less motors whenever possible.

You will need to use the right blade & use a second vac. If it's 1 or 2# beadboard you will have a mess. I have built alot of homes & additions with SIP's (foam fill building panels) & it's messy.
