Johne, I make a copy and use a 3M spray adhesive to attach it to the wood. The adhesive is not real strong but good enough to hold the paper while cutting. Then when your finished cutting just sand and the paper and glue come right off and you clean up the rough edges at the same time.
Fred, I have not been doing much scroll sawing lately just for that reason. it seems the older I get the less patience I have. The other problem is the old eyes are not what they were, I need twice the amount of light and still don't see as well as I did just few years ago. BTW my wife was very surprised, she also got a pair of diamond ear rings to go inside that box. Actually I bought the ear rings and then decided to make the box. It is the only time I surprised her in our 26 years together. I could only work on the box when she was at work and then I had to hide all the parts so she could not see them when she came home.
