Sorry for making the assumption that the beds were all aligned.  That certainly would be a contributing issue.  Let us know how it works out.

I think snipe is a bit of an inherent issue from what I have read, due to the rollers and cutter being so close together. Bed alignment can help, so can lifting as mention by Ken, but the only fool proof method I have found (and I calss this as a top tip BTW [smile]) is to use a short scrap of wood, pass it just through 3about 4 inces before your proper stock, and the same, about 4 inches before the end of your stock goes in. This sets the rollers which apply quite a bit of pressure at the right height for the infeed and outfeed.

I know its a bit of a pain, but its what I do if I need to thicness stock which is cut to the final length and so have to avoid snipe
 
Pass your wood through so that the second piece is entering the planer before the first one exits.

Also raise your indeed and outfeed tables by a couple of degrees. Most of the snipe will be prevented.
 
Look what I got 2 day!  Also got a few things to day!  Feels like my Birthday!  Oh wait it is my birthday 2 day! lol

I got two festool Lights 2 day!  I ordered them AGES ago Germany have been a little slow getting them to the UK the .........! Any way  RexCrystals  told my they where good so I ordered two and if I loved them I would keep both if I liked them I would of sent one back and kept just one and if I hated them sent them both back! 

Well......... Im keeping both!  So I love them! lol

You cant compare them to a halogen with brightness of course cus they will always win hands down BUT BUT they are still very bright and light up a room easily! So having two compliment each other as you can have one where your doing the work and another where your fitting your work or just have two facing the same place but placed in different places to avoid casting a shadows on what your working on!

The benefits with these lights over conventional halogen!

1. They dont get HOT!

2. You know that when you get them out of your van they are going to work! Unlike halogens often the bulbs are broken because the vibration of your van and get knocked about!

3. LEDS last for years! so no need to replace bulbs all the time!

4. They can be plugged into the mains  or into your car/van  and will run of the mains

5. They have an internal battery but also a external festool battery can be attached(drill/carvex battery) to give more run time.

6. They can be knocked about with out any worry about damaging the leds.

They are a lot smaller then I thought!   

The back has a cover with a hook which slides off to you can slide an external battery on the back but then you cant hang the light up which is a shame! They should of made it so you can still clip a hook onto the light even with an external battery attached

Also they should of drilled a couple of key holes in the back of the plate so you can fix the plate to the wall and then slide your torch onto the plate!  Its not big deal as you can easily just drill a hole your self which is what I am going to do my self  so you can just screw the plate to studding or something if you wanted!

On the bottom of the light it has a threaded hole so you can attach the light to a camera tripod!

The light has a small green light in the middle which flashes when you plug it into the mains and have the light switched off!  It flashes slow and then quicker once its getting closer to fully charged and then is on constant when fully charged just the same as a normal festool charger but on the actual light its self.d

Cheers!  The stitches came out monday but the lower cut near the palm of my hand still has potential to open up again but I insisted on having the stitches  removed as I didnt want to come back again waisting more time of work!  So the nurse stuck some tape across to keep it closed!  The cut on the top part of the thumb has healed more and its completely fine now!

Cheers again!  I got a couple of projects im working on which will justify a new topic I recon  [big grin] post soon!

Happy birthday, did I miss something what have you done to your hand ?? Its just over a year since I had my surgery on my hand.

We saw those lights at the toolfest morning the Festool rep threw one across the yard to start his demo. A few scratches but it still worked. I just couldnt justify that much money for a little light we use the 110v plug in jobs anyway £15 each lol
 
Yeah Chris, you missed it.  Dean posted the picture JMB texted him from the emergency room.  Personally, I think JMB admires you too much, to the extent of copying any injuries you receive.  [tongue]

How is your hand any way?   Mine ain't as bad didn't need surgery only 7stitches.    

I agree they are costly BUT the 110v are good for a job your on a for a few days set up but for traveling around job to job all the time they are awkward to transport as they can easily break during transport.  Having two festool lights on hand iis perfect for me they are bright enough to light up a Large room and work in easily.  If I go to another room I can take the light with me unlike I 110v halogen unless u have more set up you have to have a long lead so you can move it about.  

Im Working on this job which is a Large house with no lights at all!  Annoying thing is I'm working all over so need light everywhere but I'm only doing 1-2 days a week for that job  so I ain't going to bring all my halogens onto the job set them all up to leave on the job as it ain't my problem really der are no lights on the job.  

Their are 3 joiners on that job every day  so they should be arranging some lights not me. So selfish me will now just turn up with my festool lights to light just up my area to work in!

  Der are 2 joiners aged 23ish and one 50/60years old on the job every day  I can only be on the job once twice a week as I have other jobs on the go and I'm considered head joiner for that job haahaa lol   I do all the intrecate work and I have been told by the clients to take control when the stairs come and need to be fitted.   Love it really don't need to do shitty skirting and architrave they are doing all that!  I just build stuff!   I gotta hurry up and make all the architrave soon for that job so they can start fitting it!

I carry a small 110v 2d light on the van but usually our new builds are fitted out with temporary lighting.

We went to do a job today it was one great big new house that's nearly finished and still has well over 100 people working on it god knows what the wage bill is. It's got an underground car park for 20 cars for the owners car collection which includes a Bugatti veyron.

Nice my fav car!  Pictures??? I would of taken pictures with me standing next to it at least! 

100 people man sod da i like working with people but not da many I would be to wary of my tools  thinking some one will take something all the time. Sounds like a site job
