LR32 door hinge options?

If your new to it then get ready for an education.  There are so many different styles, types and options of not just hinges but plates and offsets.  Waaaaaaay waaaaaaay to much to try and explain here.  Best thing to do is go to the Blum site and start reading, reading and reading some more.  Seriously there is a lot of options.  Woodworkers express carries a wide selection and pretty good about helping out but you still should do a deep dive over at blum.com

Yeah, I'm starting to look through all the options and it's pretty crazy. I've reached out to Sedge at Festool and he uses the Inserta line of hinges so I figure that could be a good starting point. I envision a fair amount of cabinet builds in my future using the LR32 and really want to get this one finished...carcass is cut/domino'd and ready for glue-up, but want to get the hinge situation sorted while still in pieces.

I like the Inserta style but dont use the inserta plates. Just the door side.  the wings on the plates look funky to me. Might just be me.  However you should know that the door side needs 8mm holes not 5mm for the cup mount.  You can use this as a one stop solution but will negate the lr32 for drilling the doors. Its best to add a dust port to the jig not sure why blum didnt.

The subject of concealed hinges is a rabbit-hole that can be quite overwhelming....and that's just Blum. Grass and Salice add to the complexity.
They make hinges to cover every situation, blind corners, 45 degree, multiple overlay measurements, face-frames, soft-close, free-swing, etc.
They even go so far as to offer different ways to configure the same hinge. You can get them without the mounting screws or with the screws pre-installed into plastic plugs that press into 8mm holes. These are most often used in bigger shops with specialized drilling equipment.
The Insertas are completely different, screwless.

I agree with [member=73094]afish[/member] re. the funky looking plates. I recently switched over to the 'linear' plates, much nicer look.
For Blum, inset application, you're looking for their 'zero - overlay' hinge, combined with a 'zero height' plate.
Hinge code: 71B3790
Plate code, Linear: BP175H310.1
Plate code, Cruciform, comes with pre-fitted Euro screws: BP173810

The 'cruciform' plate fits directly to your 5mm series holes, whereas the 'linear' plates need new holes drilled across the panel, so in your situation the cruciform are your best bet.

These came as a kit at my local Lowe's, I didn't see any separate plates there.

I'm completely new to door hinges and the LR32...I'm wondering where the best place online to buy them in the US is? I've heard there's a big shortage. For this project, I'm looking for inset hinges for a frameless cabinet that are plug&play with the 5mm holes the LR32 bores. The amount of options is quite overwhelming...these ones with a soft close look like they should work if paired with the right plate?https://www.cabinetparts.com/p/blum-hinges-european-cabinet-hinges-BH71B3790-p6670

I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions on suggested hinges and where to source them.

You source them anywhere you can get them these days.  Any rec we give you might be outa stock tomorrow , or next week, month , quarter.  It’s basically old Moscow Rules these days.  If you see em, buy em immediately and then figure out if you want whatever it is.

Well, I was able to track down a couple 5mmx13mm euro screws (for 55cents each!!!) while waiting for my online order to test out the setup. The screws of course don't fit through the holes in the hinge plate....wondering if there's a good/clean way to expand the hole or if it'd be better to just return them and order some of the Inserta Blum hinges?

You could drill the plates but like I said earlier , you’re going to lose vertical adjustability because the euro screws everyone is recommending don’t have shoulders for the plate to ride on.  If you do decide to go fwd.  you’ll need to clamp the plates in a vise / jig / clamp to steady it while you drill.  Otherwise it’ll go south on you fast.

I only saw one other baseplate suggested, the one in Dynaglides post, and from the looks of it the vertical adjustment is very easy, just turn the extra screw on the baseplate and it moves up or down (The baseplate consists of two parts so the part where the hinge clips to can move up and down, controlled by the excenter setscrew while the other two screws stay in the same place)

Only prob. with that suggestion is they’re for Clip hinges and gearhound has Modul hinges.  The two are not compatible.

If you wanna stick with Cab Parts.com get this:

though , I like these better - they might not be in stock.

These will also work:

Thanks for linking all these options! I've been putting off ordering and need to get it done soon!

Just by googling I found cabinetparts.com, but open to other options too. They seem to be the only place with this 71B3790 in stock.

I'm in Northern Colorado and would love to find these locally if possible as CabParts is in Florida. Only option Woodcraft seems to have is:https://www.woodcraft.com/products/blum-clip-top-110-degree-inset-hinge-with-blumotion Can't really tell if these will work looking at the pictures?
I also see my local hardware store has these:https://www.mcguckin.com/2830916/product/Blum-71B3780 and it appears the only difference is that it mounts with the expanding dowels vs just inserting?

So having never used these hinges before or the LR32, it appears that I'll be able to use the LR32 for the baseplates and drilling the hinge cup, but I'll need to drill out the 8mm separately. What's the preferred workflow for that? Just getting the cup cut with the LR32 and then using that as guide for where to drill out the 8mm?

Thanks for any suggestions in helping me track down the needed parts!
